Become the latest person to unearth treasure in West Bromwich.
The Oak House Museum is now back open to the public and has a very special archaeology event coming up where you can literally take part in digging up the meadow and help to unearth any treasure that may be there. Items often sit just under the surface so there is every possibility there could be some interesting finds.

00:00Hello sir, we're here at the fabulous Oak House. Gorgeous building isn't it here in West Brom?
00:06Yes, the Oak House is about 400, 430 years old.
00:11Wow.
00:12And the first family we know of that came in here were the Turtens in the 1620s.
00:20However, there's been quite a bit of work done on it because it needs a lot of work and renovation.
00:26As all houses do, especially when it's that old.
00:29Exactly. So we are running an archaeological a week, a few days, which is from the 23rd, 24th and 25th of July.
00:42And also the week after it's some other archaeological work that we're doing.
00:49Kids can come and make peach pots can't they on the week after?
00:52Yes.
00:53That sounds good for them.
00:54It's going to be really interesting to all the children. So bring them along.
01:00We're open from 11 o'clock I believe till 3.30.
01:07So bring them along and they can get involved and learn quite a lot.

01:14Not only about the Oak House, but also about archaeology.
01:17And I believe they've done some test pits at the front of the house here,
01:20but this will be the first time that you're digging down at the back won't it?
01:23That is correct, yes.

01:28The Wolverhampton Archaeological Group are coming down to do the digging I believe
01:33and they've already marked off a couple of spots that they think might be interesting to them.
01:37That's right, that's correct.
01:39They must have found stuff here in the past before in the grounds.
01:42They have found some items in the past. Surprisingly some of them are quite near to the surface.
01:49So who knows, if you come, who knows what you'll find.
