Robbie Stelling reveals on the latest Poolie Podcast where Hartlepool United's transfer priorities lie and where Darren Sarll will look to strengthen before the season gets underway.

00:00Yeah, well, I mean, I would say first and foremost, I think the recruitment so far has been good for new signings and they've identified positions that were maybe problematic for Pools in last season.
00:11So that's really pleasing. And after a sort of underwhelming campaign and then a little bit of a controversial end to the season, there was a bit of negativity around the place, I felt.
00:20But I think the initial recruitment and also the way Sal speaks, the way he carries himself has struck a chord with fans.
00:27So there is a bit of positivity. I was speaking to loads of fans prior to the game on Saturday and there is a renewed optimism, which is great.
00:34I think when we spoke to Sal last week, the one position he identified was goalkeeper.
00:41I think that's probably got to be their number one priority. They had all sorts of problems in the goalkeeping department last season.
00:48Ironically, having signed Pete Jamison and Joel Dixon, who were sort of signed to compete as two number ones.
00:55And in the end, they did sort of end up competing, but maybe not in the way we would have liked.
00:59Pete Jamison has just signed for Darlington.
01:03He obviously improved at the back in the last season and was a potential option for Pools, I felt, especially as a free agent.
01:09They've obviously decided not to go in that direction, which means their only senior goalkeeper is Joel Dixon, who was transfer enlisted.
01:16But it looks like Pools are going to struggle to shift him. He had a really difficult first season at Pools, just one clean sheet in 26 games,
01:23lost his place on two separate occasions and struggled with a lot of facets of goalkeeping, kicking, command of his area and confidence.
01:31And he's obviously been a really good goalkeeper, a National League title winner with Barrow, almost 200 appearances, I think, for the Cumbrians as well.
01:38And he's a bit of a legend over there, but he just seems to have lost his confidence and especially in goal.
01:43It's difficult to rediscover that. So I would like to see a goalkeeper and I would be amazed if we don't see a goalkeeper before August the 10th.
