00:00My friend, our Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
00:04APPLAUSE
00:10Thank you.
00:14Thank you.
00:18Thank you.
00:27Thank you very much.
00:30Thank you, Anas, my friend.
00:32Without your leadership, we would not have achieved this here in Scotland.
00:37And I can't tell you how important it is to me
00:41to be here in Scotland with you
00:4448 hours after the King invited me to form a government.
00:50That was an incredible honour and privilege.
00:53And to be here two days later,
00:55making good on my commitment to Scotland
00:58by making a start is hugely important to me.
01:02And to be with you, Anas, for this first engagement,
01:05I think, cements the relationship,
01:08the hard work that we have done together over so many years.
01:12Because that was an incredible election result,
01:15a historic result,
01:17and a real, real mandate for change.
01:21And we start here.
01:22Not long ago, we just had one.
01:26Red in Ian.
01:28And now, look, we have a team of 37.
01:33And I campaigned, and in that campaign, I said,
01:37I want Scotland to send a government
01:40to start delivering for Scotland.
01:42And we have this team to be part of a government,
01:45sitting on the government benches,
01:47all working to deliver for Scotland.
01:52This team here,
01:54the whole of the Labour Party in government,
01:57and myself, delivering for Scotland.
02:01Now, you don't win elections.
02:03They don't just drop from the sky.
02:05There's nothing inevitable about an election win.
02:08There's nothing inevitable about what happened here in Scotland.
02:11We won because we changed the Labour Party.
02:15We won because we campaigned as Change Labour.
02:19We won because Anas and Jackie and all of you
02:22changed Scottish Labour
02:24and put us in a position to win that election.
02:28And we will govern as Change Labour,
02:31with the same mindset, the same ethos.
02:33And yes, this is part one.
02:35Part two comes in 2026.
02:37And imagine what we could do, what more we could do.
02:41But we start the delivery now.
02:44Because that mandate that we won on Thursday
02:48was a very clear mandate for change.
02:51For change across Scotland,
02:53across the whole of the United Kingdom.
