00:00The Department of Transportation placed their programs under the Build Better More or BBM program.
00:07The construction of the so-called Big Ticket Infrastructure Projects was also a full blast.
00:12Ryan Lesigas was surprised.
00:17At the last State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,
00:23the Build Better More program of the DOTR was highlighted in his message to the country.
00:28And now, the President's zone is getting closer.
00:31Where is the DOTR in the Build Better More program?
00:35Where, according to the President, 83% of this will be the construction of roads, bridges, seaports, airports, and mass transport.
00:44Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista laid out what their agency is doing for the BBM program.
00:52According to Kalihim, the DOTR is currently doing a lot of infrastructure projects,
00:57most of which are being done by the past administration.
01:01The first to look at here is the continuous construction of the North-South Commuter Railway or NSCR.
01:07This is a 147-kilometer railway that runs from Clark to Calamba, Laguna.
01:12It is expected that this project will provide better transportation services
01:18that will help in the development of the economy, especially for those who are working and looking for a job.
01:24The construction is ongoing.
01:27Our contractor is a Spanish group.
01:32And we're working closely with them.
01:37When is the target completion?
01:39The target completion of our North-South Commuter Railway is by 2029.
01:47Although, we're expecting that we will have partial operations by 2027.
01:53Aside from this, the construction of the first subway in the Philippines, the Metro Manila Subway Project, is also ongoing.
02:01This is a 33-kilometer underground railway system that will start in Valenzuela.
02:07It has state-of-the-art train sets that can accommodate more than 2,000 passengers per train.
02:14As of now, the physical progress of the project is at 14 percent.
02:19It is expected that it will be fully operational by 2029.
02:23The funding for the project was estimated at Php 488.5 billion,
02:29which was funded by official development assistance from JICA and the government.
02:34Our achievements here are that the tunnel boring machines started to operate.
02:43As of now, we have four tunnel boring machines whose operations are almost 24 hours.
02:51Within the year, it will be six.
02:54And in the coming years, we will have up to almost 19 tunnel boring machines working 24 hours to complete the construction.
03:07Bautista also led the development of 700 ports in the country with the help of the Philippine Ports Authority.
03:16On the other hand, many projects have already been done here, such as modernization and improvement of existing airports.
03:25And one of the big projects that is expected to happen this year is the modernization of Manila International Airport.
03:33The modernization of Manila International Airport should be done immediately so that the experience of our passengers will be comfortable.
03:44By September 13 or September 14, our private proponent will take over.
03:54They will invest almost Php 3 billion to improve our existing facilities in Manila International Airport.
04:05The capacity will increase from Php 32 million up to Php 62 million.
04:10This is a huge improvement.
04:13The DOTR has also been approved in the PUV Modernization Program or PUVMP.
04:19The consolidation and route rationalization of the DOTR is now completed.
