00:00Go for it.
00:01Thanks, Karine.
00:02So, there are growing calls from Democrats,
00:05including members of Congress,
00:06for the President to step side to the 2024 election
00:09because he's not capable of serving another four years.
00:12What is his response to this?
00:14So, let me just step back for a minute
00:16and, I guess, deal with the questions
00:19that have come in about the debate.
00:21And, honestly, this is something that the President
00:23has addressed himself multiple times since this past Thursday.
00:28And, first of all, I want to say we understand the concerns.
00:30We get it. The President did not have a great night,
00:34as you all know, and many of you reached out during the debate.
00:38The President had a cold. He had a hoarse voice.
00:40You all heard it. That's why you reached out.
00:42But I will say this, and the President said this
00:45over the past couple of days,
00:47certainly right after the debate,
00:49he knows how to do the job.
00:51And he knows how to do the job not because he says it,
00:53because his record proves it.
00:55Because for three and a half years, almost four years,
00:59the President's record has been unprecedented,
01:01delivering for the American people.
01:04Another thing that he said that I would add
01:06is he knows right from wrong, he knows how to tell the truth,
01:09and, again, he knows how to deliver for the American people.
01:12Joe Biden is a person.
01:15Take away his title,
01:18he is someone who has dealt with tragedy.
01:21He is someone who has confronted that head on.
01:24He is someone who knows how to get back up
01:28once you've been knocked down.
01:30That is something that he understands very, very well.
01:32And I think, and we believe,
01:34that's something that many of Americans
01:35across the country understand as well.
01:38And he knows how to come back. He knows how to come back.
01:41And so the President's going to continue to focus
01:44on what he's been doing the past three and a half years.
01:46He's going to focus, continue to focus on the American people.
01:50And, you know, to your question,
01:52just to add a little bit more to your question,
01:55look, you heard from Speaker Pelosi,
01:57you heard from Representative Clyburn.
01:59And let me just share, paraphrase
02:01a little bit of what they said.
02:02Speaker Pelosi, who is very close to the President,
02:04said it is not about performance in terms of a debate,
02:08it's about performance in a presidency.
02:10And this is a President, you've heard me say this,
02:12we've talked about this, he's been able to give us
02:15an economic recovery,
02:18the strongest economic recovery in modern history.
02:21Let's not forget, during the midterms of 2022,
02:24many people, many of you all, some of you in this room,
02:27said that it was going to be a red wave.
02:29And that didn't happen. He defeated Big Pharma.
02:32We have seen historic low in crime
02:34in more than down to 50-year low.
02:37And then you had Representative Clyburn,
02:39who said the President has done a great job
02:42leading for the last three and a half years.
02:44The best predictor of future behavior is past performance.
02:49This is from Clyburn.
02:51And when you look at the record of President Biden
02:54versus former President Trump,
02:55you see President Biden,
02:57who has delivered the strongest recovery in modern history,
03:00versus the previous administration,
03:03whose plans hurts the middle class.
03:06And President Biden, who is committed to protecting
03:08our fundamental freedoms versus the former President,
03:12the previous administration,
03:13doing everything that they could and they did
03:16to overturn Roe v. Wade.
03:18And they are responsible for that.
03:20And that's coming from two people
03:22who are not just leaders in Congress,
03:25but also close to the President.
