00:54We begin with the news.
01:11The number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip reaches more than 34,000
01:15people, most of them women and children.
01:18The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that after 204 days of the Israeli siege, 34,388
01:24people have died and 77,437 have been wounded in the Gaza Strip.
01:29The health ministry assured that in the last 24 hours, the Tel Aviv forces committed four
01:33massacres in which at least 32 Palestinians were killed and 69 were wounded.
01:38According to health authorities, the Israeli forces obstruct roads and prevent the passage
01:41of emergency teams, putting the lives of injured people at risk.
01:45The health ministry warned of the spread of diseases and epidemics due to the overflowing
01:49of sewage and the accumulation of garbage in the streets.
01:57Student protests are extended to more than 40 universities in the United States to demand
02:01the government stop sending arms to Israel.
02:07Students walked out of their classes to demand a halt to investment in arms manufacturers
02:12to end their complicity in the U.S.-backed Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that have
02:18killed more than 34,000 Palestinians.
02:19They silence us, suspend us, create barriers for us to practice our faith so that they
02:20can say that we are a fringe group or that we are not real Jews.
02:35Unfaced by Columbia University's sanctioning of a NYPD crackdown in which at least 108
02:42people were arrested Thursday for protesting Israel's war on Gaza, the students expressed
02:50their firmness in stating their demands, arguing that what is happening in the Palestinian
02:56territories is a crime for which they condemn U.S. involvement.
03:17In this regard, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called students who have set up
03:20camps in solidarity with the Palestinians anti-Semitic mobs and accused them of attacking
03:27Jewish students and teachers, even though Jewish organizers have been among those protesting
03:34the Israeli bombardment of Gaza and demanding a ceasefire.
03:41What's happening on America's college campuses is horrific.
03:46Anti-Semitic mobs have taken over leading universities.
03:49They call for the annihilation of Israel.
03:51They attack Jewish students.
03:53They attack Jewish faculty.
03:55This is reminiscent of what happened in German universities in the 1930s.
04:00It's unconscionable.
04:01It has to be stopped.
04:02It has to be condemned and condemned unequivocally.
04:05But that's not what happened.
04:07The response of several university presidents was shameful.
04:11Now fortunately, state, local, federal officials, many of them have responded differently, but
04:17there has to be more.
04:18More has to be done.
04:19In this context, movements in favor of the Palestinian cause denounce that Israel persists
04:25in a genocide that has been accentuated since last October 7th and that consists in a progressive
04:32elimination of the Palestinian history and roots.
04:37They also emphasize that Tel Aviv systematically takes over Palestinian territories and breaks
04:42into them, denigrating their Arab population and kidnapping their children to hold them
04:50in Israeli prisons.
04:52Moreover, Tel Aviv continues to build illegal settlements under the pretext that they, the
04:57Israelis, are God's chosen people.
04:59Let's now go deeper on this matter.
05:02We'll welcome Moataz Salem, Palestinian-American graduate student from the George Washington
05:06University.
05:07Hi Moataz, thank you for your time here from the South.
05:11Yeah, thank you for having me.
05:13Moataz, first, what is the demand and purpose of the Palestine Solidarity Camps?
05:19So the purpose, first and foremost, is to show our solidarity with our brothers and
05:25sisters in Gaza, to remind the world that there's still a genocide going on in Gaza,
05:32and to remind the world especially of what has happened to the educational institutions
05:36in Gaza, all of which have been decimated.
05:39Our demands as it pertains to George Washington University, we want them to disclose all their
05:46accounts in terms of investments that they have and the donor money that they receive.
05:52We want them to divest any money they have into Israeli tech companies or Israeli weapons
05:59manufacturing companies.
06:01We want them to protect black, brown students, people of color, especially the ones who have
06:09been speaking up for Palestine because they faced a lot of repression.
06:13Actually, we already have seven of the students here in the encampment have been suspended.
06:22And at last, we would want them also to end their partnerships with any Israeli universities.
06:32As you were saying, Moataz, the students have been abused and repressed by police officers,
06:36even so, far from the demonstrations slowing down, the initiative has multiplied in dozens
06:40of universities.
06:41How are encampments developing after the reports of this police brutality?
06:48I think honestly, the more they try to repress us, the more powerful the message is.
06:55People are seeing the idea that if they weren't repressing us this hard, then we wouldn't
07:01actually be changing something or threatening them.
07:05I think the repression is happening as a result of how effective these protests have been.
07:10So even though they've been cracking down on us hard, they've been intimidating us,
07:15threatening us with police force, for over 48 hours now, we've had more communities show
07:20up than ever before, and more are showing up every hour.
07:26For many analysts, the U.S. stance will be decisive for the future of Gaza, as Israel
07:31threats to carry out a land invasion of Rafa despite warnings of its catastrophic humanitarian
07:36consequences.
07:37What repercussions might this wave of protests have on the White House stance on the conflict?
07:44I think we expected a lot more from Joe Biden, especially in terms of trying to stop the
07:56genocide and to call for a permanent, lasting ceasefire.
08:01But it seems that the White House here has given them a green light to do whatever they
08:05want, even with all the war crimes that they've committed, with the mass graves being seen.
08:11And they just sent them earlier this week $14 billion in aid for weaponry to Israel.
08:23So I think that's been the White House's stance, and it has been decisive in the sense
08:28that it has allowed this genocide to go on for far too long, and it has helped them sustain
08:34the genocide.
08:35And so we've decided that if that's what our government believes that's supposed to represent
08:41us, it's not representing us well, and it's up to us to disrupt and make our voices heard.
08:49How important are these international solidarities shown by the people, students and workers
08:53of the world, the people of Gaza?
08:57I think it means the world.
09:00I personally am from Gaza, I'm a Palestinian-American, and I've lost family members to the genocide.
09:09And I know from a lot of my own friends in Gaza, as well as just from seeing the reactions
09:15online that no one in the world, like I can tell you as a Palestinian, I never imagined
09:22I would see this in my life.
09:25I never imagined I would see this many people come out and support and help us.
09:31We have people coming in, giving us food and water and supplies to sustain us as long as
09:36possible.
09:38And I know for the children of Gaza, for the families, for all the people of Gaza, this
09:43means the world.
09:45They see our solidarity and it's giving them a lot of strength.

10:30The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights demanded the lifting of U.S. sanctions against
10:34the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
10:36The autonomous OAS agency's demand was made through a report issued on Thursday, three
10:41years after the United Nations rapporteur Elena Dujan had warned that the sanctions
10:46had no normative basis in international law and had worsened the situation of vulnerable
10:50people in Latin American nations.
10:53According to the President of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodriguez, from 2015 to
10:572023, 962 sanctions of various kinds were imposed by the U.S. government on the Bolivarian
11:03nation.
11:04Venezuela left the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights three years ago.
11:12Also in Venezuela, the United Socialist Party mobilized in rejection of United States criminal
11:17sanctions and in support of President Nicolás Maduro in the state of Portuguesa.
11:21The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, joined
11:26the mobilizations this Friday.
11:28Hundreds of people rallied and marched through the municipality to show their support for
11:31the Bolivarian government.
11:33The party's youth commission pointed out that they will continue with the legacy of
11:36President Hugo Chavez.
11:38Likewise, the social organizations of the popular power and the communes confirmed that
11:42they will participate in the upcoming presidential elections of July 28th.
11:54On July 28th, this organized people, the people of Portuguesa, the people of Turin, the people
12:01of Venezuela are going to give them a new lesson, a lesson of popular victory.
12:09That is why we listen.
12:10We listen to Ali Primera when he says, I'm not staying home because to the combat I go.

12:47In Guatemala, the Especial Prosecutor's Office against impunity ordered a raid on the offices
12:51of an NGO being investigated for possible child trafficking.
12:55The head of the Especial Prosecutor's Office, Rafael Curuchiche, indicated that the operation
13:00was coordinated in conjunction with the National Civil Police and that it was in response to
13:04a complaint filed against the agency.
13:06Although the name was not specified, images on social media showed that the raided offices
13:10belonged to the non-governmental organization Save the Children.
13:14Curuchiche insisted on the commitment of the Public Prosecutor's Office to fight for the
13:19integrity and protection of Guatemalan children.
13:22This case starts as a result of a complaint in which the public minister is informed that
13:32some facts have been allegedly committed against Guatemalan children and adolescents.
13:37This is due to the fact that the Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated this investigation, which
13:43is still in progress.
13:45In Brazil, at least 10 people have died and 11 are injured after a major fire at a homeless
13:51shelter in the southern city of Porto Alegre.
13:54The chief of the Rio Grande do Sul State Fire Department, Lucio Yunes da Silva, informed
13:59that the flames were extinguished after two hours.
14:02The official indicated that the investigations into the cause of the fire are still underway
14:07and that the three-story building was completely destroyed.
14:10The rescue team assured that the exact number of victims is still unknown since the place

14:56In Spain, people have taken to the streets demonstrating in support of Prime Minister
15:00Pedro Sánchez, who announced that he might be resigning because of a lawsuit against
15:04his wife, Begoña Gómez.
15:06Over 12,000 people gathered across the headquarters of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party chanting
15:10Pedro's name, showing their support for the presence of the Spanish government.
15:14The demonstrators were also demanding an end to the offensive by the opposition against
15:19the Prime Minister's wife and alleged corruption charges.
15:22Moreover, the Spanish Communist Party also called for a demonstration at its headquarters
15:26against Pedro Sánchez's decision to resign.
15:34People in Tanzania's capital Dar es Salaam said the situation is really scary after heavy
15:39rains linked to the El Niño triggered flooding and last lights killed at least 155 citizens.
15:46Tanzania and other countries in East Africa, a region highly vulnerable to climate change,
15:50have been pounded by heavier-than-usual rainfall during the current rainy season, with several
15:55dozen deaths also reported in Kenya.
15:57Prime Minister Kassim Mahaliwa said more than 200,000 people have been affected by the disaster
16:02in Tanzania, with 155 fatalities and 236 people injured.
16:07Homes, property, crops and infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways and schools
16:12have been damaged or destroyed.
16:25The situation here is really scary.
16:27I can say many people, including myself, have been affected by floods.
16:30Many people have lost their property due to floods.
16:33Their houses have been surrounded by floods.
16:35This time the floods have affected even houses that were not marked as areas which are affected by floods.
16:41Many people have lost their property, as we have seen.
16:43It has reached a point where water is going through the windows and doors, which has led
16:47to many people losing their property.
16:49When people go to work in the morning, then it rains in the afternoon.
16:52When they return in the evening, they find all their property has been carried away by water.
16:56In my neighborhood, so far no one has died, but many of my people have suffered losses.
17:03The United Nations issued warnings over escalating tensions in Sudan after threats by the rapid
17:08support forces to resort to violence to control the town of El Fasher, north of Darfur.
17:12The UN Special Envoy for Sudan affirmed that they have warned both the rapid support forces
17:17and the army not to have confrontations in the area in order to avoid massacres among civilians.
17:22After the wave of violence due to the clashes between the parties, the authorities have
17:26confirmed that a large number of the Sudanese population is gathered in El Fasher as a result
17:31of forced displacements.
17:33Recent data from the organization indicate that civilians in Sudan are on the verge of
17:37starvation, with women and girls being victims of threats and violence.
17:45In Zimbabwe, the government recently confirmed it will expand diplomatic, energy and economic
17:50relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
