00:00Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. says technology will help encourage the country's younger generation to be involved in farming.
00:10This and other developments in tonight's Business News Wrap-Up by Clayzel Pordilia.
00:17The Department of Agriculture, or DA, has finished its investigation on the entry of imported goats affected with Queensland or Q fever disease to the country.
00:27Investigations show that even before the said livestock arrived on January 11, the goat farm in the U.S., which the Bureau of Animal Industry, or BAI, imported from, reportedly already had an issue.
00:39Several goats from the said farm reportedly tested positive for Q fever as early as December 29, 2023.
00:47Department of Agriculture, or DA, Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. said technology is all set to revolutionize the country's agriculture industry, which will attract a new generation of Filipinos who would want to become farmers.
01:03For that to happen, though, the Agriculture Chief disclosed, the government must find a way to make the farming in the country more profitable.
01:12Meanwhile, Secretary T. Laurel encouraged the forging of new partnerships with agri-fisheries stakeholders to address the challenges facing the country's food systems.
01:22He urged all stakeholders to work together to help not only just industries involved in the entire nation, but to be able to thrive amid such adversities.
01:34The Philippines and South Korea have reaffirmed their commitment to agricultural cooperation as part of the commemoration of the close bilateral relations of the two countries.
01:44DA Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. and Korean Minister of Agricultural, Food and Rural Affairs Song Myeong-yong signed letters of intent to honor such commitment.
01:55Kalei salpardilya for the new and better Philippines!
