00:00What did you think of what Carter had to say when talking about battling for a wild card
00:06and kind of comparing some of the recent success of wild card teams?
00:13You know, as the Rangers and the Diamondbacks showed us last year, it's pretty important
00:19relative to your ability to go far, and a lot of different teams can go far, it's baseball.
00:24So from that standpoint, just getting a ticket to the dance can be really, really beneficial.
00:29But yeah, I mean, to the first question, which probably more important is, you know,
00:33below expectation.
00:34You know, we would hope to be in a better spot at this point in the year, you know,
00:38halfway through the year, and we're not, and we got to figure out ways to get better internally
00:42and put ourselves in better position to be able to be a team that's in contention for
00:47one of those spots, whether it be division or wild card, here come the end of the month.
00:51Okay, that's great, except for two main things.
00:54Number one, who's in the division with the Diamondbacks?
00:56The Dodgers.
00:58Absolutely.
01:00Blank busting contenders and the Dodgers and the Padres, correct?
01:03That is correct.
01:04Who show you that every single day, they're going to try to push the envelope.
01:08They don't care about a competitive balance tax.
01:10They're going to trade for everybody they possibly can, and when that doesn't work,
01:13they're going to trade some more.
01:14And then the Texas Rangers have who in their division?
01:17The Astros.
01:18The team who went to seven straight ALCSs?
01:20Do you forget that they spent $500 million in 2021 on their middle infield?
01:26And then when they didn't think they had enough, they went and traded for Max Scherzer
01:29and didn't even need him.
01:32These are not the same.
01:33And those guys-
01:34And you want to win your division where you're 10 games back.
01:38And those guys that they got, hit the ball out of the yard.
01:42That's the other part of it.
01:43There is a difference between a career five war and a career four and a half war or a
01:47career four war player.
01:50I've been preaching this as long as we've seen these contracts, but don't you talk to
01:55me about the AL and the NL West when you're in the Central struggling.
02:01You in baseball flyover country right now.
