NFA assures enough supply of rice for distribution in case of emergencies, calamities

00:00The National Food Authority, or NFA, ensured that the supply of rice by the agency is sufficient

00:05to be distributed during calamities or emergencies.

00:09The rice inventory is expected to reach 145,000 metric tons, which can fill the four-day national

00:15rice requirement of the entire country.

00:18Meanwhile, the NFA clarified that the agency alone cannot meet all the requirements for

00:23the Bigas 29 program.

00:25However, it assured that the program will provide good quality rice despite the shortages.

00:31Currently, the NFA is prepared to allocate up to 10,000 metric tons of rice for the Bigas

00:3729 program, aiming to provide cheaper rice to the less fortunate Filipinos.

00:42The nationwide rollout of the Bigas 29 program is scheduled for July.

00:46It is expected that the contract-growing program of the National Irrigation Administration

00:52will supply thousands of sacks of rice to the Bigas 29 program.
