00:00Now we are going to meet a martial artist who went to win a championship and play in an event
00:07but there he had to fulfill the duties of a referee and he was made a referee.
00:12But his desire to win a gold medal, he showed his good work as a referee and won a gold medal.
00:21Amazing! And Sardar Zoyab went to participate in the upcoming Kyokushin Kai Karate Championship in Indonesia
00:27and he participated in it in the 36th country and he went with the hope that he will win a gold medal by fighting.
00:32But what happened? How did he become a referee? What was the matter?
00:36Let's find out from him. Sardar Zoyab is with us. Thank you so much for joining, Zoyab.
00:40Good morning.
00:40Please tell us that you went for some other purpose. The purpose was to win a gold medal
00:46but you had expertise in Kyokushin and then you became a referee. How did that happen?
00:53Good morning. Thank you very much for inviting me here.
01:00It happened like this. We were going to participate in a world championship in Indonesia from Pakistan as a fighter.
01:10So when we reached Indonesia, one day before the fight, because you know when there is a World Cup, everything is pre-planned.
01:21So when we were registering our fighters, they talked to the committee and they saw my expertise in Kyokushin.
01:36So they offered me to join as a referee.
01:41So this was the first time that we were going to play from Pakistan and we got an opportunity to become a referee.
01:50So I accepted it. So I was the referee for almost the entire tournament.
01:56And my seniors with me were from Texas, Azam sir.
02:00So both of us were the referees.
02:06So Zohaib, how much did you get praised for being a referee?
02:11And what was your own experience?
02:14As a martial arts expert, did you like it more or your experience as a referee was better?
02:21As a referee, it was better.
02:24Because if you get a referee in such a big event like the World Cup, the people from so many countries are more expert than us.
02:35If they saw our expertise, they chose us as a referee.
02:42So this was a big thing for us.
02:45One more thing, Zohaib.
02:47It's obvious that your expertise, skill set and understanding of the game shows.
02:53But a person has a competitive soul, a hunger to fight.
02:59So what did you do about that?
03:02This chance of being a referee was more important for me.
03:08If you look at the history of martial arts, you don't get a chance of being a referee just because of your expertise.
03:20Because the World Cup and World Championships are pre-planned.
03:25They are planned for 6-8 months.
03:30So changing it on the spot and getting such a big chance is a big thing.
03:36Zohaib, what would you like to do now?
03:40Do you want to continue this one-time opportunity?
03:44Do you want to register for it?
03:47Or do you want to serve as a fighter?
03:50When there are World Championships, we get invitations.
03:58We apply and go.
04:01But we do all this on our own.
04:04After 6 months, there was another World Championship.
04:08Before that, they told me that they will invite me and I will have to come back as a referee.
04:14If I get a chance, I will definitely go to Pakistan.
04:19Thank you so much Zardar Zohaib for being with us.
04:22Sometimes luck takes you on a different path.
04:27Expertise matters a lot.
04:30You went to Pakistan for the World Championships.
04:35But this time, they were planning to go as a referee.
04:41That's amazing.
04:43That's how you can improve.
