A Very Short Life is a 2009 Hong Kong drama film written, produced and directed by Dennis Law Sau-yiu (羅守耀). It is Dennis's fifth feature film as a writer and director. Based on TRUE STORY, the film centered on child abuse and child molestation, the film stars Maggie Shiu Mei-kei (邵美琪) as Josephine Wong, a Hong Kong Assistant Commissioner of Police who investigates the murder of an 11-year-old girl at the hands of her abusive mother, Becky Lee (江麗娜 Leila Kong Lai-na).

Respectable Police Commissioner Josephine (Maggie) reinvestigates an insignificant murder case of a 11 years old girl. The murderer is the mother of the victim, Becky (Leila).
