00:33And watch me take him for a spin
00:35Now I've been spinning windmills since ancient history
00:39Persians put us both to work 250 years B.C.
00:42Crusaders and the Romans saw the work that we could do
00:46And soon windmills were sprouting up wherever strong winds blew
00:50When my friend the wind spins me round and round and round
00:53My turbines turn and spin out power
00:57They're generating lots and lots of megawatts

01:04A watt's a measurement of electrical energy
01:07It takes 40 watts to light this bulb
01:10A thousand watts is called a kilowatt
01:12The meter on your house counts kilowatts by the hour
01:15And the average house uses from 6 to 9 thousand kilowatt hours a year
01:19Now windmills hook up to a grid to share their energy
01:23Along with lots of other plants that make electricity
01:26Most power plants within the grid burn fossil fuels like coal
01:30They're making so much soot and smoke we gotta set new goals

01:45He heats me up and cools me down and keeps me on the run

01:57Heat that once escaped to space is trapped by greenhouse gases
02:00CO2 and waste builds up and Earth gets no free passes
02:04One result of global warming's warmer ocean water
02:08So hurricanes and other storms get bigger than they oughta
02:13If everyone in every house could care to save some watts
02:17We'd cut all this pollution down by lots and lots and lots
