00:08The Seaside Heights Beach Patrol is out in full force for the first official weekend of summer, even lifeguards getting important reminders to stay on high alert as they prepare for an influx of people.
00:19Just talking scenarios with the guys, what happens if, you know, somebody goes down, how do we make the calls, you know, just reviewing all our policies.

00:37Don't forget to pack the sunscreen and lots of water too.
00:41Staying hydrated, 30 plus, try not to stay in the sun too long, get some breaks, get up, walk around. So you got to be careful.
00:49Pay attention to beach warning flags or signs near the water. Communicating with your lifeguard is key.
00:55If you see a yellow flag, I highly recommend you go talk to the lifeguard and say, OK, what's the deal?
01:00Where can I swim? Only swim when a lifeguard is on duty.
01:03If you don't, you'll not only put yourself, but your family at risk too.
01:08If you find yourself caught in a rip current, don't panic.
01:11Swim parallel to the shore instead of directly toward it.
01:14Once free of the current, angle back to the shore.
