00:00Several days of severe thunderstorms on the way here in various parts of the Central and Eastern United States from Saturday, Sunday into Monday, so a great time to download the free AccuWeather app.
00:12We have many tools to help you stay ahead of those storms and be best prepared and stay safer. That's what we do here at AccuWeather.
00:20Here's the home screen and if you tap up on the top, this is where you can access locations all around the country and all around the world.
00:27We'll go over to Nashville and we'll type that in and head right over to Nashville. This is a location that we're concerned about severe weather risk.
00:33And it's very important to go into your settings here and you tap that on the upper left hand corner of the screen and go into settings and ensure that you have, go under manage notifications and see where you have the opportunity right here to turn on government alerts.
00:50That's a key thing to be able to turn on for your current location and any other locations that you care about, maybe where your parents live or where your kids are located.
00:59When you turn government alerts on, that enables AccuWeather to deliver them to your device quicker on average than any other source.
01:06That's valuable and information in terms of being best prepared during a severe weather event.
01:12And then also right underneath that, you have lightning alerts. This is a great tool from AccuWeather that enables you to be aware of lightning strikes nearby.
01:20Here's an example of what that looks like when it gets pushed to your phone.
01:24Look at that. It shows lightning in your area and that when you tap on that, that brings you right into the AccuWeather app and that enables you to take a look at radar and be aware of thunderstorms that are developing in your community.
01:35So those push notifications are really important. Again, you can turn on those lightning alerts right in that settings screen as well.
