00:00We'll be right back.
00:03A draft and the draft is so good Joe Ranieri this year that they had to make it two nights
00:08here.
00:09Now I'm being a little bit facetious because there's not a lot of energy for this draft,
00:12which is crazy, which leads us into our next topic about the draft.
00:16We'll take a look at who's supposed to go one, two and three.
00:19But before we get there, maybe the biggest focal point on the Los Angeles Lakers besides
00:24hiring JJ Reddick and will LeBron James actually play for the Lakers once opting out?
00:28Probably opt back in for more money and stay in Los Angeles is what?
00:32Bronny James, where he's actually going to go in the draft.
00:35Now the Fandled Sportsbook has a pretty robust market right now.
00:38If you're not interested in going one, two or three, how about the Bronny James market?
00:43And we're getting a lot of hype for a player that doesn't look like he's even going to
00:46be a first round pick.
00:48Before I get into this specialist market, Joe, taking a look at Bronny James in your
00:52opinion, is he a first round pick?
00:55And yes.
00:56Will he go in the first round?
00:59I know he's not.
01:00He listened.
01:01He couldn't even start at USC.
01:02Now he's going to be a first round pick.
01:05I mean, this is, this is all undue pressure on a kid that really is going to have to spend
01:11the rest of his life in his father's shadow.
01:13I just hate everything about this, Donnie.
01:17Can LeBron convince a team, Lakers, to, to go ahead and take a flyer on him somewhere
01:24down the point?
01:26Sure.
01:27But if push comes to shove and the draft picks that you have have to be utilized to go out
01:31and get a Donovan Mitchell, well then maybe he goes to a G league or goes to Australia
01:36or something along those lines here, Donnie, which wouldn't be the worst thing.
01:40If this is truly about Bronny cultivating himself and becoming an NBA player, he's not
01:46that right now.
01:47That would be best for him.
01:49But for LeBron, if the clock is ticking and he wants to play with his kid and that's a
01:54goal of his, well then he'll move mountains in order to make it happen.
01:58So don't, don't put it by LeBron to figure out a way in order to convince the guys to,
02:04to go ahead and draft him in that front office.
02:07It's interesting too, because you see Rich Paul, who's the agent, obviously for LeBron
02:10James has a lot of clients throughout the NBA and a lot of powers basically telling
02:13certain teams, unless you're giving my client, which is Bronny James, a guaranteed deal,
02:18it's going to be no two way deals, which means he starts out in the G league and maybe get
02:21that two way contract back up to the NBA.
02:24Do you agree with the way Rick Paul's handling it?
02:25Because he came out and made a lot of comments saying like, it doesn't matter that it's Bronny
02:29James.
02:30I would do this with any client that I had.
02:32And my counterpoint was you wouldn't even have Bronny James as a client if his name
02:36wasn't Bronny James at this point, because you're not messing with a late second round
02:40pick, which is probably what he should be.
02:42Do you agree with the handling right now, Bronny James through his agent, Rich Paul?
02:47I believe nothing of any of what I hear out of them, whatever.
02:52And no matter what he says, think about the opposite, because there's obviously conversations
02:58going on behind the scenes.
03:00It would make the most sense, but I think this all depends on what LeBron James' goal
03:07is here.
03:08Does he want, if the season goes, Donnie, hard left, right?
03:14Does he push for Bronny to be on the team towards the end of a team going absolutely
03:18nowhere?
03:20What is the motivation for LeBron?
03:21As crazy as it is, this isn't the motivation for the Lakers.
03:25It's what is LeBron's motivation when it comes to his kid?
03:28What does he want to have happen?
03:30He will do anything in his power to make it happen if that's what he wants.
03:35If he wants to be on the court with him this year, guess what?
03:38He's going to be on the court with him this year.
03:39He still wields that kind of power.
03:42And also, if we take a look at that JJ Redick interview, and yes, the Lakers obviously like
03:47what they heard.
03:48You know coming up in some of those topics is, well, what happens if we draft Bronny
03:51James?
03:52How do you handle the father and the son playing?
03:53You know that came up, but at the same time, the Lakers do have the 17th overall pick in
03:58the NBA draft.
03:59Now, this is not a very deep draft to say the least, but it would be kind of crazy if
04:04you're saying, all right, well, just to make LeBron happy, we're going to burn a first-round
04:07draft pick to take his son when we know he's not actually a first-round draft pick, which
04:11brings us back in to the betting market.
04:13So yes, the Lakers do have number 17 overall, but the Fansville Sportsbook is telling us
04:17right here, over under on draft positioning for Bronny James, 41 and a half.
04:23So with that knowledge, you know, the Lakers have a first-round pick, 41 and a half is
04:27the number.
04:28What's the over under on Bronny?
04:29Is he going under 41 and a half or over 41 and a half in your opinion?
04:34I think a lot of this is going to depend, are the Lakers keeping this pick or are they
04:39utilizing it and using it in a package deal someplace else to bring in immediate help?
04:45I mean, we're, we're assuming the Lakers are going to have a draft picks here.
04:50They're going to have that number 17 pick.
04:51I'm not sure.
04:52I'm not sure if they don't dangle that to go get and see if they can't make an offer
04:57where they can bring in, you know, with two or three other teams, Jimmy Butler, I keep
05:03hearing that down here all the time, going to the Lakers, Donovan Mitchell getting out
05:08of, you know, Cleveland and coming to the Laker.
05:11That's all going to require draft capital in order to not just money, but it's going
05:15to require draft capital.
05:17They may not have a pick at which point it could just be one of these signed situations
05:22here and stash them into G-League until LeBron calls for it.
05:26Yeah.
05:27And by the way, Bronny James would be drafted in the first round is also a market here.
05:31Obviously the 41 and a half is that player positioning here.
05:33It's a five to one price for yes.
05:36And we talk about Rich Paul saying to himself, look, I'm putting this out here right now.
05:39There's no two way contracts.
05:40And again, if you're a first round draft pick, you get that guarantee here.
05:43So does that say to myself, five to one price, Joe, is that worthy of thinking that he might
05:48get slid back into that late first round pick at this point or no for you?
05:53To me, it's a no.
05:54I just don't see if they're serious about winning now.
05:59And I don't know what else there is for the Lakers besides winning now with a 40 year
06:03old LeBron James.
06:05I don't think that should be a priority.
06:08I don't think utilizing a pick in the first round for LeBron's son, who's not ready to
06:13play in the NBA.
06:14I don't know how that makes any sense.
06:16So I wouldn't be tying up my money for five to one.
06:18I think it's a great storyline and people will be watching it.
06:23But I think the reality is we probably are not hearing his name called when the draft
06:27comes.
06:28Like, if you are LeBron James, too, and the goal right now for him is he's always chasing
06:33history.
06:34And the more victories he can get, the better he matches up, let's just say, with a Michael
06:36Jordan, some of the Titans that came before him.
06:39But also, he's got to be a businessman as well, going like, OK, if we want to be good
06:43this year and again, you're not drafting number one overall, number two overall, where you're
06:46going to get a guy like Anthony Edwards.
06:47We understand that.
06:48But it's still the seventh overall pick and LeBron James, let's just say they'll trade
06:51the pick way.
06:52Yes, we're going to select that.
06:53I'm sure he'd be happy to play with his son, but at the same time going like, wait a second,
06:57I could have gotten like a true swing guard right here at 17 that might be able to help
07:01us and then get my son later in the draft when we trade up maybe into the second round
07:05to get him.
07:06That makes the most sense.
07:07Now, the one intriguing part is going to be is we're figuring that it's going to be the
07:11Lakers that draft him.
07:13There's a Mark Andrews that tells us where he's going to go with the price.
07:17Let's talk about that next to end our number two.
07:20We'll be right back.
07:21The questions keep coming up and won't be answered until next week when we have the
07:24NBA drafts round one and rounds number two.
07:27And this is the Sports Grid Network here got you covered on everything NBA all of those
07:32hot topics here, which includes at the fan blue sports book.
07:35Where's Bronny James actually can go you can battle this people you can and no surprise
07:39Joe Ranieri the leader in the clubhouse.
07:42It's the Los Angeles Lakers at a plus 100 price the Phoenix Suns at a plus 650 price.
07:47Those were the two teams that get, you know, talked about with Bronny James more than any
07:51other so rightfully so but a heavy favorite of the Lakers Mavericks Timberwolves Raptors
07:55and Knicks also on that board.
07:57So next week forget about where Bronny James is drafted numerically.
08:02Where is he going?
08:03And what team do you feel he will be on by the end of next week?
08:07All right.
08:08Listen, if you believe the guys that followed a team and who have their ear to the to the
08:14pavement there, you've got a Lakers team that hold two picks right now, right?
08:18The 17th and the 55th in this year's draft.
08:22Most of these guys are all saying the same thing here, Donnie.
08:26One of those two picks will be used to draft him.
08:31And if that is the case, if it ain't the 17th, it's probably going to be the second round,
08:36but there will it will not be any team other than the Lakers.
08:41It's either going to be the 17th if they still have it provided they don't find another deal
08:46in order to be able to package that with or it's going to be the 55th pick and that's
08:51it's going to be them.
08:52The question is what happens after that, though, that is going to be the million dollar question.
08:57Yeah, I can't imagine going anywhere but the Lakers, but it's funny that it's been years
09:01and years and years.
09:02I want to stay long enough to play with my son.
09:04I play for the Lakers.
09:05We have the pick.
09:06We should be able to choose my son.
09:08And then over the past, what, 24 to 48 hours.
09:10I don't know if this is truth because I don't believe it.
09:12Where LeBron James like, yeah, wherever he goes is fine.
09:14If he plays with me or not, it's not actually a big deal at this point.
09:17Let's take a look here at some other NBA draft picks here.
09:21We know Reese's Shay is now the favorite at minus 125 price to be number one overall
09:25over SAR, who's plus 145.
09:27But the question not really one versus two right now, Joe, you know what it actually
09:31is?
09:32Who is going to become the third overall draft pick that might be the hottest market right
09:36now.
09:37And at the fan blue sportsbook, Reed Shepard at a plus 100 price, Donovan Klingon at a
09:41plus 270 price in your mind outside of the top two who probably should go number three
09:46here.
09:48Yeah.
09:49I mean, you also have the kid to the Yukon point guard.
09:52Steven Castle is also a guy that has been getting a ton of a ton of love here.
09:57And I kind of like that because we're talking about what the Rockets right at number three.
10:02If I'm not mistaken, we've got Atlanta, we've got Washington, and then we've got the Houston
10:08Rockets and love a guy like Steven Castle for them.
10:14Reed Shepard is also in that conversation.
10:17And I don't know.
10:18I'm not sure Klingon goes in the top three or five, if we're being completely honest.
10:23I know he's getting a lot of hype, but I think Steven Castle from Yukon is much more valuable
10:29to teams at the top of this draft board than what Klingon would be at this point.
10:33Yeah.
10:34No, we'll find out.
10:35And again, we got one week.
10:36And the one thing we do know is that market has changed a lot over the past couple weeks.
10:40That numbers are going to change drastically right up till we get the draft next Wednesday
10:45night for round number one.
10:46And then Thursday, obviously, will be round number two.
