00:00Come up front. Tell everyone where you're going. Tell them. Tell them where you're off to.
00:04Hey Dennis, do you want the fridge? Do you want to go to bed? Do you want to go to the toilet?
00:11I can't even say the word out loud because he gets so excited and throws a complete tantrum.
00:15Want to go to the beach? You want to go to the beach?
00:21What's your favorite part about the beach?
00:24He could make any sound from a kookaburra. It's an old car trying to start up.
00:28Let's go swimming. Come on.
00:29I take Denny to the beach every day, even on the rainy days.
00:33Since he's getting older, I want every day to be extra special for him.
00:37There's this one turn off where he knows exactly where we're going. Three, two, one.
00:47There he comes. Yes Denny, this is it.
00:50Where are you off to?
00:54He'll talk his whole way in the car over there.
00:56When he gets there, he just runs straight down to the water.
01:01When Denny's at the beach, he's just stick obsessed.
01:10What a beast. It's unbelievable how strong he is
01:13and determined he is to pick up these giant sticks.
01:16Good boy. So strong Denny.
01:20Go.
01:22To see an older dog still making the most of the adventures
01:26and being physically active and enjoying himself, it makes me feel very proud.
01:34When we rescued him, he was seven years old. He was at a dog pound.
01:38So I took him out of the cage that day and within a few hours we bonded.
01:43But basically somebody else had wanted to adopt him.
01:46But because we bonded so hard,
01:48the other people just decided to give us the gift of staying together.
01:53But I'm still so thankful for those people for doing that.
01:58Denny and I have a really fun relationship.
02:01Did you find a mountain of food?
02:04What do you want me to do? Buy it all for you?
02:07He's very, very vocal.
02:08And probably my favorite part about him is the way that he can communicate.
02:12Anytime he wants something, he'll just tell me.
02:17Sometimes I'll pull out my guitar and start playing a song
02:20and he'll come and have a little sing-along with me.
02:30I've got to say, the last couple of years has been hard.
02:32Seeing him getting older, slowing down a little bit,
02:34even though he still loves the beach and he's still active,
02:37it reminds me to just make the most of it.
02:39I find that if I take him to the same park over and over,
02:42just like anyone else, he kind of gets bored.
02:45What I've realized is I can change up the environment,
02:47take him to a different park, surprise him.
02:50We'll go into a beautiful national park
02:52and we'll spend a night or two camping in a tent.
02:56I think that's what keeps him young.
03:00I'm very much looking forward to all the memories
03:02that I've made with Denny over the last couple of years.
03:06I'm very much looking forward to all the memories
03:09that we're going to continue to make.
03:14I'm not thinking about his age anymore.
03:16I'm not thinking about how many days or weeks or years
03:18we have left together.
03:19It's just about collecting these moments together.
