When will the weather in the UK warm up?
Transcript
00:00June 20th is set to be the start of British summer, but your first thought in regard to
00:06that will probably be the fact you've had your winter coats and your heatans on for
00:10the last week. Well, yeah, me too, but it's been reported that temperatures have been
00:15around 1-3 degrees below average for this time of year, with heavy rain and winds making
00:20it feel even colder. At the minute, cold air is being pushed in from the Arctic, bringing
00:25with it cold temperatures. It's a big contrast to this time last year, when the UK experienced
00:30its warmest June on record. So, when can we start to expect the weather warming up? Moving
00:36into July, temperatures are thought to start creeping up, though cold air will still be
00:40crossing the UK from the Arctic. But it is hoped that the UK's first proper heatwave
00:45of the year could hit us towards the end of the month. According to the Met Office, weather
00:50forecasts for heatwaves can be predicted up to a week in advance. But when exactly
00:55can we Brits expect to swap our woolly sweaters for suncream and shades?
