00:00The more I've thought about this, as I look at what he is as a player, where he excels,
00:11the coverage of him has bothered me more and more.
00:15Because we're looking at a player who is not an elite, dynamic athlete, not a run-jump
00:25guy like just about everybody else who's been a superstar at that position since I was a
00:31kid going back to Dr. J, Dominique Wilkins, that sort of player.
00:37You carry that all the way through to Kobe Bryant, et cetera.
00:41And all those players had that A-plus dynamism.
00:45And he doesn't have that, Jason doesn't.
00:47He thinks the game at an elite level, and he finds where he can be elite.
00:53And that's usually by multiplying through different categories, points, rebounds, assists.
01:01He finds a way to be extraordinary.
01:04And I don't think people are used to seeing a player like him do those things.
01:10And that bothers me that that's what they're stumbling on.
01:14Why can't he just be a smaller Larry Bird or something like that?
01:21Why can't he be that and be exceptional?
01:24I got back when I complained about him not being the finals MVP from some people when
01:30he didn't play that great a defense.
01:32Well, I mean, come on.
01:33I mean, Larry Bird, was Michael Jordan on D?
01:37No.
01:38I mean, he was a very intelligent player, a very gifted player, a very skillful player who
01:44managed to supersede his defensive limitations.
01:48And that's exactly what Jason Tatum is.
