00:00Now, looking back, I was like, I was so young.
00:01I could have done everything.
00:03I wasn't tired back then.
00:04I'm almost 50.
00:05I'm like, now I'm tired.
00:06Like, what were you thinking?
00:08Hi, I'm Chloe Seveni.
00:10And today, I'm going to let Elle ask me anything.
00:17I mean, it seems like every trend from the 90s
00:19has come back, so it's hard to pick one that hasn't.
00:22You really don't like a, like,
00:25I can't remember what they even call it,
00:26like a soft floppy hat.
00:28Slouchy beanie?
00:29Yes.
00:30And I feel like actors, especially LA actors,
00:33love that look.
00:34I'm like, I don't want to see a slouchy beanie.
00:36If I see a slouchy beanie,
00:37it's the end of the world for me.
00:40Oh, that's a complicated question.
00:42I thought it was nice to see that Gypsy Rose
00:46had come to New York and was enjoying Times Square
00:49and enjoying her life.
00:51I mean, she grew up with so much suffering.
00:53And I mean, what her mother, you know,
00:56did to her is just shocking and appalling.
00:59And I don't even have words for it.
01:02So I'm glad that she's learning how to own herself
01:06and finding some joy and love in life.
01:10She's still guilty of murder, but yeah.
01:11Other than that.
01:14A Gen Z fashion trend that I love.
01:18I like the fluidity.
01:20I like, you know, the boys and girls,
01:22the girls and boys, the kind of, you know,
01:24I think that that's my favorite part
01:26of the new generation coming up,
01:27that kind of anything goes.
01:29I feel like you can see people on the carpet wearing things
01:32and it's not criticized anymore.
01:33There's more openness, there's more freedom,
01:36there's more acceptance.
01:36And I think that that's great.
01:39My favorite Ryan Murphy show besides Feud,
01:42Capote vs. The Swans,
01:44is probably the first season of American Horror Story.
01:47I was terrified.
01:50Terrified, shocked, surprised.
01:53Couldn't like walk into the other room alone.
01:56I was shook by that show.
01:57I had no idea that's where I was going
01:59and hauntings, ghosts are definitely something
02:03that I've always been very scared of and believe in.
02:06And so I will say that first season really shook my world.
02:12Which celebrities do I look to for fashion inspiration?
02:17The way Hunter Schafer owns herself on the carpet.
02:19I think she really balances like modern cuts
02:24with this like a classical elegance.
02:26I think that she really, I mean, she's like a supermodel
02:28and she pulls everything off.
02:29But I think her red carpet and casual style
02:32is really inspiring.
02:36It's funny, I was also watching Just Like That.
02:39If I had to pick one, I mean, can I say Carrie?
02:43I guess so, I don't know.
02:44Weirdly, I've never asked myself who I am.
02:46Maybe I'm a Miranda, probably.
02:51The co-star I'd least like to get into a feud with
02:54is probably Diane Lane.
02:55She's kind of a tough broad.
02:56I have a feeling she could make you feel pretty unwelcome
03:00and unwanted and I feel like a little more intimidated
03:03by her than the others between you and I and the internet.
03:07That's a verbatim.
03:11My favorite part of 1960s fashion,
03:15it was just like such an opening.
03:16It was such a like the times changed
03:19and there was such freedom of expression.
03:21For me, I'm kind of known for my legs,
03:23so a mini with like a, you know, a boot.
03:27But I think it's more also just hair.
03:29I love hair, I love furry big hair
03:31and I think like just that everyone kind of just let it go.
03:34Probably my favorite.
03:34I don't know if it's really fashion, it's more beauty.
03:37I think one of my roles is the most underrated.
03:41Maybe it was in Russian Doll, my friend Natasha Lyonne show.
03:45I play her mother who's suffering from schizophrenia
03:49and it's a small part but very poignant
03:51and I don't think that I got enough notices for that
03:54for what I did in that show.
03:56I tend to get a lot of advice from other actors.
03:59I think one of the best is compare and despair.
04:01I think because you so often are seeing
04:04other actresses get parts.
04:05Run your own race.
04:06I know everybody's gonna have their time to do their thing.
04:11My favorite co-star in my career thus far
04:14is probably Jean Tribblehorn on Big Love.
04:16She played the older sister wife Barb
04:19and we just gelled.
04:21I don't know, we were both really into music.
04:23We had a really fun time on set.
04:25I used to go and stay at her house.
04:27She would just really take care of me.
04:28We shot out west, I lived in New York
04:30and she really became this like sister, mother figure
04:34and I'll always cherish how much
04:36she took care of me out there.
04:39Trying to think of the most embarrassing onset mishap
04:41I think is always not knowing lines.
04:42I remember once I did the Mindy project
04:44and for some reason I could not get these lines out
04:47and I started crying.
04:49And they were so in the flow of it.
04:51It's a great sitcom and they've been doing it for years
04:54and they have this rapport and I came in
04:56and I was like, I'm only here for these couple days
04:58and I couldn't get it out.
04:59I was so embarrassed.
05:01I wanted to just crawl into whatever kind of trailer
05:05I had at the time and never come out
05:08and it's just very frustrating, embarrassing
05:10when you have so little to do
05:13and you can't seem to do it.
05:15There were so many roles for my career,
05:17so many great filmmakers that approached me
05:19wanting to be in their films, notably John Waters
05:24and I always regret that because I'm such a huge
05:26John Waters fan.
05:27There was something about the timing.
05:29This French filmmaker, Claire Denis,
05:31wanted me to be in something
05:32who was one of my favorite directors
05:34and I just remember when those offers were made to me,
05:39I don't know, the timing just seemed wrong
05:41and now looking back, I was like, I was so young.
05:43I could have done everything.
05:44I wasn't tired back then.
05:46I'm almost 50.
05:46I'm like, now I'm tired.
05:48What were you thinking?
05:50So I'm still like, oh well.
05:54If I had to live anywhere other than New York,
05:57I always say if New York fell off, I would move to Pittsburgh.
06:00I've shot there a few times
06:01and they call it the Paris of Appalachia.
06:06The last place I would want to live is Los Angeles.
06:09Sorry.
06:10I feel like there's a lot of driving.
06:11I feel like it's very isolating.
06:13I find it very bright.
06:14I find the sunshine monotonous.
06:17I don't like how dry it is.
06:18I don't like how hard the water is.
06:20I don't like that it's a town built around the industry
06:23that I work in.
06:24It makes me feel very self-conscious
06:25and uncomfortable in my own skin.
06:27I don't like the terrain.
06:28I don't like the vegetation.
06:29Sorry.
06:34My go-to hype song.
06:36Usually it's like my go-to cry song
06:39but if I had a hype song right now.
06:41I have a three and a half year old
06:43so sorry to say I just kind of let it go right now.
06:46I mean, he's really into Frozen.
06:48He's like, mom, this is the jam.
06:51The last show I binge watched,
06:54since Fargo, Gilded Age,
06:57which I feel like has a lot of parallels
06:59to Feud, Capote, and the Swans.
07:01You know, there's a lot of women who lounge around
07:04and gossiping and setting dinners
07:05and yeah, weirdly became obsessed with Gilded Age.
07:09I also love Cynthia Nixon, always.
07:13Who would I bring Dead or Alive to Capote?
07:15Well, Capote.
07:16I think they were all vying.
07:19All the Swans were vying to be the guest of honor actually
07:22and there's a scene in our show where he tells me,
07:25you know, I'm not the guest of honor
07:27and CZ is very like heartbroken.
07:29She thought it was going to be her.
07:30So I, yeah, of course I'd want to be there with Capote.
07:34Thanks for watching Elle.
07:36Tune in for Capote vs. The Swans on FX, streaming on Hulu.
