Zoë Kravitz learned so much from directing 'Blink Twice,' but her biggest lesson? Everything that can go wrong, will. Watch as the actress and first-time director steps back in front of the camera to reveal the truth about Sagittariuses, the best places to source vintage, and what she secretly stole from the set of 'The Batman'—spoiler alert: it was *not* the latex catsuit.

00:00Hi, I'm Zoe Kravitz, and today I'm going to let Elle ask me anything.
00:06Here we go.
00:07Name three songs that raised you.
00:09Oh, wow.
00:10Oh, You Pretty Things, David Bowie, Positive Vibrations, Bob Marley.
00:15I mean, I love Spiderwebs, no doubt.
00:17I grew up, I was a big No Doubt fan when I was a teenager.
00:20Obsessed.
00:21What is the biggest misconception about Sagittarius?
00:24I feel like everything's pretty on point.
00:26We're super flaky.
00:27We're also really fun.
00:29We're very social.
00:30I feel like we have a pretty good reputation.
00:32I feel like it's pretty accurate.
00:34Nikki, what's wrong with Sagittarius?
00:38We are brutally honest.
00:39That's not a misconception.
00:40A misconception, like something that's untrue about us.
00:45Oh, that's a good one.
00:46People think we don't care.
00:47People think because we're very independent, we're not sensitive.
00:51But I feel like we actually are sensitive, but we hide it pretty well.
00:54Yeah, that was helpful.
00:55Thanks, Nikki, my Sag sister.
00:57What's one skill you've learned for a role that you still use today?
01:00So far, I haven't had to break into a safe or use a whip.
01:04My posture got a lot better after I did Catwoman
01:07because I had to be so aware of my physicality,
01:10and I feel like I can tend to hunch over,
01:12and I think it really helped me be aware of my posture,
01:16which has helped with my back.
01:18Because as you get older, your back starts to hurt.
01:20What advice would you give a first-time director?
01:23Try and get yourself as much time as possible.
01:26You'll never have enough time.
01:28And also, try and stay creative in a crisis
01:31because everything will go wrong.
01:34And the more that you lean into it and surrender to it
01:37and try and find creative solutions, the better it will be.
01:40Okay.
01:41Okay.
01:42What is your biggest tip for sourcing vintage?
01:45There used to be so many great vintage stores in New York specifically.
01:49So many of them have closed, which is a bummer.
01:51But I would say flea markets.
01:53Flea markets are so great and so fun.
01:55If you're traveling, looking up the local flea market.
01:58In the summer, there's a bunch here in New York.
02:00In London, I love going to Portobello Road.
02:03The Rose Bowl is great in LA.
02:05You just have to get up really early or you A, don't get the good shit,
02:08and also it gets really hot.
02:10I have a lot of vintage, and I've been collecting since I was a kid.
02:13I mean, good T-shirts and slips.
02:15I collect vintage slips. I love them.
02:17Who was the most active in the Big Little Lies group chat?
02:20Pretty equal.
02:21I feel like who's least active is probably Nicole.
02:24I feel like she doesn't like to text so much.
02:27It's probably me and Shay and Reese and Laura.
02:30But Nicole chimes in, and when she chimes in, it's good.
02:33I have no information about season three, sadly,
02:35except for the fact that we all really want to do it,
02:38and we're all really excited, and I think that it's going to happen.
02:41But yeah, keep on being vocal, everybody, that you want it to happen.
02:45We can pressure HBO into getting it going.
02:49What's one prop or wardrobe piece you've taken from a set?
02:53I took one of my masks, one of my masks from Batman,
02:56which I might get in trouble for now that I've said that, but I do have one.
03:01I wanted my whole catsuit.
03:03I wanted the whole thing, but they were like, no.
03:06So I didn't take it.
03:08I mean, what am I going to do with that?
03:10What am I going to wear it? Maybe.
03:12Who was the last person you were starstruck to meet?
03:16Harrison Ford came up to me at the Golden Globes and said he liked my film,
03:19which was like, oh, my God.
03:21And I also met Nathan Lane outside of the Bowery Hotel.
03:24The Birdcage is one of my favorite films.
03:27So I went up to him, and I think I started quoting The Birdcage
03:30and probably freaked him out a little bit, but I love him.
03:34If you could cameo on any TV show, what would it be?
03:38Ooh.
03:40I mean, most of the shows I would freak out to cameo on
03:43are maybe off the air.
03:45Give your enthusiasms. Is that done? It's done.
03:48Well, that would have been one of them.
03:50The Sopranos would be the other.
03:52And Sex and the City, but like between season one and four.
03:57What's one beauty secret you've learned from your mother?
04:00Less is more.
04:02My mom's always about restraint
04:04and also just taking care of your skin so that you don't have to overdo it.
04:08She's very into beauty coming from the inside.
04:11It's like an energy thing, I think.
04:14Bringing out honesty and positivity, I think,
04:17is what's most beautiful to us and to her.
04:20Which one of your red carpet looks are you most proud of?
04:24I really loved some of the looks we did for the Batman press tour.
04:28Anthony made some really, really special pieces,
04:30specifically the dress I wore to London with the cutouts.
04:33I thought it was really cool.
04:35I also loved the Saint Laurent dress that I wore to the Met Ball.
04:38The crystal look, I thought that was pretty rad.
04:41I'm very lucky I get to work with such a genius
04:43and things come together pretty easily with him.
04:46Thanks so much for watching.
04:47Be sure to check out my cover for Elle.
04:49Out now.
