00:00There are signs of summer in this week's week ahead video from the Met Office may
00:06even get quite a bit warmer particularly going to next week. More on that in a
00:10moment. First let's get through this week. We start off between high-pressure
00:15systems but also between low-pressure systems. The bigger view shows the jet
00:19stream driving down to the south generating this low pressure bring some
00:23wet weather to Iberia and as that works northwards on this flank of the jet
00:28stream well it will bring some rain across France that might just graze into
00:33parts of Kent during Tuesday so we could see a little bit of rain here. Showers
00:37across Scotland during Tuesday as well and some showers breaking out over
00:40northern England perhaps into the Midlands. One or two heavy ones pretty
00:44well scattered. The odd one for Northern Ireland but many places particularly for
00:47Wales and southern England dry and bright during Tuesday afternoon with
00:50some sunny spells. Breeze still coming down from the north so still a chill
00:55across northern Scotland especially temperatures really struggling across
00:58the Northern Isles and Aberdeenshire but further south with lighter winds a bit
01:03of afternoon sunshine temperatures could squeak into the low 20s. What about
01:08through the rest of the week? Well high pressure is starting to topple in
01:12pushing away the weather fronts. These ones are coming around the top they will
01:16increase the cloud during Wednesday across northern Scotland but for most
01:19under this ridge of high pressure Wednesday looks like being a fine day.
01:24Yes it may start a little cloudy over the southeast could even be a bit of mist
01:27and fog around. Still a bit of a breeze coming down from the north around the
01:31coasts of East Anglia and Kent but generally a good-looking day.
01:35Temperatures in the high teens over northern England, southern Scotland and
01:38Northern Ireland and further south 21-22 degrees maybe even 23 in one or two spots.
01:44So already getting a little bit warmer. That high pressure is still influencing
01:48things as we head through Wednesday night and into Thursday but the jet
01:52stream's really changing orientation now. There's dip down to the south is moving
01:56away we're starting to see a more kind of classic jet stream coming in from the
02:00west that is generating low pressure systems up to the north of the UK and as
02:04this weather front dribbles southwards the rain will be getting wrung out of it
02:08but it will provide a bit more cloud during Thursday over parts of southern
02:12Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. So maybe a bit grey here a few
02:16showers in the far north but generally a brighter day on the west coast of
02:20Scotland and again in the south a fine day and look at the temperatures ticking
02:24up 24 degrees Celsius possible here. It will be a little cooler with a bit more
02:28cloud over northern England and Northern Ireland and we do have to just keep our
02:33eye on developments down to the south. Just the potential for some thundery
02:36showers to come up on this little weather front across France may be
02:40affecting the Channel Isles. Small chance they may even drift a little further
02:43north during Thursday night into Friday. There will be more weather fronts by
02:47Friday coming into northern Scotland as well so that will bring more of a change
02:51here and spreading its way across all of Scotland, Northern Ireland. More cloud and
02:56some outbreaks of rain. A different feel to the day across Wales as well with
03:00more cloud coming in here but still much of the south and east of England will be
03:04dry just with more clouds and it won't be as warm either. So Friday we'll see
03:09some cloud and rain coming in particularly over northern parts of the
03:12UK. That weather system though looks like pulling away again with the jet
03:17stream moving in low-pressure systems. There could be more wet weather coming
03:21in across the north into the weekend but the general theme is again for high
03:25pressure to topple in during the weekend and depending on the timing that could
03:31generate some even warmer air particularly as we head into next week. A
03:36week away so still plenty of developments to keep our eye on this
03:40week. We'll be keeping you updated. Make sure you stay up to date yourself and the
03:44best way to do that of course hit subscribe.
