00:05officials from both countries are hailing the remarkable progress in their economic and trade cooperation,
00:12particularly the 15-year streak of China being Malaysia's top trading partner.
00:17Underscoring this success, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz,
00:22the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia,
00:26emphasised the importance of further deepening ties between the two sides.
00:30In fact, China today is Malaysia's largest trading partner
00:36and it started as number one trading partner since the year 2009.
00:41So this year, it's been 15 consecutive years.
00:45China today contributes 17% of Malaysia's total trade.
00:51The two countries have placed a strong emphasis on sectors such as electronics,
00:56semiconductors, digital economy and green economy,
01:00with plans to further expand their areas of collaboration.
01:03First of all, China and Malaysia pay great attention to electronic devices and semiconductor chips.
01:0940% of these are China-Malaysia trade.
01:12Next, digital economy and green economy will appear in the key areas.
01:19Biological medicine may also be a key area for the two countries.
01:23Tengku Zafrul also highlighted the growing opportunities in the digital economy,
01:28particularly in data centres and AI,
01:30saying there is enormous potential for further cooperation.
01:34In fact, on the point about digital economy, we are already seeing investments coming,
01:41especially on the data centres, AI data centres as well.
01:45And we just launched recently our national semiconductor strategy,
01:50where we also feel that this is an opportunity for Chinese technology,
01:56Chinese companies to continue their already strong support and investments in Malaysia.
02:03What's key to me going forward is that when we see China and Malaysia collaboration
02:11continues to move to the next level, we will also see the new technology upcoming.
02:18Some of the MOUs that we are going to be signing reflect the new areas of cooperation.
02:25Green economy and on green energy, on renewable energy,
02:29where again China has a lot of experience and knowledge.
