00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at instances where elements from Game of Thrones
00:12crossed over into video games.
00:14However, we're not including any actual tie-ins like the Telltale series.
00:19And since some of these games reference key moments in the show, we'll go ahead and
00:22issue a spoiler warning just in case.
00:29Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:34the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:38Facing No One – Multiverses We'll start with the obvious one.
00:49There are plenty of excellent fighters in the world of Game of Thrones.
00:52But when Warner Bros. put together the roster for their crossover fighting game, Multiverses,
00:57they went with the popular, faceless assassin Arya Stark.
01:01Naturally, Arya is one of the quicker characters to choose from.
01:04She's the type of combatant that can poke you full of holes and dash to the other side
01:08of the arena before you know what's hit you.
01:10While the downsides of limited range and low weight might steer some away, those who mastered
01:14her were a nightmare to deal with.
01:22Kingslayer – Middle-Earth, Shadow of War Like the first game, Middle-Earth, Shadow
01:31of War uses the Nemesis system, tracking enemies that make significant impressions in battle,
01:37bringing them back later with new characteristics.
01:39These may be physical, such as a scar, as well as a new title they've earned.
01:44All that to say, if you come across an enemy with the title of Kingslayer, you might notice
01:48they also have a prosthetic hand.
01:51This of course is a reference to Jaime Lannister, commonly referred to as the Kingslayer much
01:55to his resentment, and the fact that he had a prosthetic hand for most of the series.
02:00Knowing the reasoning behind his nickname, naming some monstrous foes after him is a
02:05little harsh.
02:12The Doorstop – The Binding of Isaac, Rebirth This one is admittedly small, but is nevertheless
02:24worth a sad chuckle.
02:25The Binding of Isaac has seen more than its fair share of content added since launch,
02:30including a plethora of helpful items one can unlock on a run.
02:33Added in 2015's Afterbirth Plus expansion was the doorstop, which keeps the last door
02:38you went through open, so you can leave a room if need be.
02:41The item comes attached with the description, Hold the Door, equating one of the show's
02:45most heartbreaking deaths to a simple item.
02:48It's just the type of delectably dark joke we'd expect from a game like this.
03:00Winter is a bloody business – Borderlands 2, Tiny Tina's assault on Dragon Keep
03:11Plenty of fans wanted to give Geoffrey a slap during the show's run, and this Borderlands
03:172 DLC gave them the best alternative.
03:19One of the quests you could take on was Winter is a Bloody Business, where you had to defeat
03:23the rotten Prince Geoffrey, found in a very familiar looking throne room.
03:28First you had to deal with his guards, canine and molehill, silly stand-ins for the hound
03:33in the mountain.
03:34Afterwards, Geoffrey, like his inspiration, cowers like a baby while you complete the
03:38quest by smacking him.
03:40Thankfully, the developers gave us the option to do it a few more times before wrapping
03:44things up.
03:45You could just wait for the show to catch up, though, or that's fine.
03:48What the hell are you people talking about?
03:50The Watcher on the Wall, Just Cause 3 When the open world playground Just Cause
04:043 was released, developer Avalanche chose to make a few references to one of the most
04:08famous locations in Westeros.
04:10At a certain point, Rico will be tasked with helping the Rebellion defend a section of
04:14a massive wall.
04:15The mission, titled The Watcher on the Wall, is an obvious nod to the Night's Watch and
04:20their own wall.
04:21Funnily enough, the mission begins with Rico meeting his ally Mario, who is peeing off
04:26the edge of the world, as he puts it.
04:29Another nod, not to a member of the Night's Watch, but to Tyrion, who did the same thing
04:33for the exact same reason.
04:38A Spear of Another Name, Assassin's Creed Origins
04:47This is another small one, but still a loving reference to one of the franchise's most memorable
04:52weapons.
04:53In Assassin's Creed Origins, you can purchase or find a rare spear called Needle, with a
04:57description that reads, stick em with the pointy end.
05:00This of course is a reference to Arya's Sword of the Same Name, made for her by her brother
05:05Jon, and a phrase that helped define her early arc.
05:08In game, it can inflict bleeding on an enemy and deals high critical damage, so we'd say
05:13it's pretty fitting knowing the character.
05:16Brothers in Black and White, World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria
05:25World of Warcraft has been around a long time, and has featured references to multiple fantasy
05:30franchises over the years.
05:32There are too many nods to Game of Thrones to list, from mission titles to achievements
05:37to characters and voice lines.
05:38However, one of our favorites came with the 2012 expansion, Mists of Pandaria.
05:43The most notable additions were the Monk class and the Pandaren, a new race of humanoid pandas.
05:49A new location linked to the race was the Serpent's Spine, a gigantic wall with its
05:54own Watchers.
05:55Interacting with them, they'll recite We are the Watchers on the Wall, and We are the Sword
06:00in the Shadows, referencing the oath of the Night's Watch.
06:11One fantasy to another, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
06:19There's a good amount of crossover between Westeros and the Continent.
06:23At a fortress in the Skellig Isles, you can find a dead dwarf in a sky cell, referencing
06:28Tyrion's stay in a similar location at the Eyrie.
06:31You can also get a sword named Longclaw, a reference to Jon Snow's sword of the same
06:35name.
06:36In the Blood and Wine DLC, the dialogue of children in Toussaint will reference the Stark
06:40Children.
06:41One may say they dreamt of being a wolf, while another will speak of a sword from their brother
06:45named Needle.
06:48Additionally, the side quest The Warble of a Smitten Knight ends with a tourney fight
06:54against Gregoire de Gorgon.
06:56Literally Sir Gregor the Mountain, as this knight is named for Toussaint Mount Gorgon.
07:07Mother of Grogans Borderlands 3
07:16You probably thought we were done with Borderlands, but there's another great reference to Game
07:20of Thrones in the third game, and to a character we haven't talked about yet.
07:24In the Anvil, you can head to the West of Gros area, Westeros, to possibly encounter
07:29a rare mini-boss named the Mother of Grogans, or as her other titles read, the Uncorroded
07:35and Queen of the Sewer Kingdom.
07:37Clearly she's a reference to Daenerys Targaryen and her many titles, and fittingly comes with
07:42three dragon-like Grogans as backup.
07:44In a reference to the fact that one of Dany's children was corrupted by the Night King,
07:48one of this mother's kids deals ice damage instead of fire.
07:56A Sword for a King Elden Ring
08:05Since A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin worked on Elden Ring, it's no
08:10surprise there's a reference to his work in the game.
08:13Inside Castle Morn, you can fight the optional boss, Leonine Misbegotten, a humanoid lion
08:18that stole the castle's treasured sword.
08:21After the fight, you get the Grafted Blade Greatsword, a huge weapon made up of multiple
08:26blades.
08:27Having a lion character steal a treasured item made up of fused swords only brings the
08:32Lannisters and their thirst for the Iron Throne to mind, and it's a fittingly FromSoftware
08:37representation for part of Martin's iconic world.
