00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're fleeing in terror from the most unsettling enemies
00:13to occupy the lands between.
00:15We won't be including bosses, but we will give leniency to creatures that did occupy
00:19the role of mini-boss at one point or another.
00:29Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:34the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:47Whether you stumbled across one in the wild, encountered another in a cave, or that bastard
00:52Patches teleported you right to their doorstep, there is nothing more frightening than suddenly
00:57having a giant demented bear lash out at you.
01:07These things are tanks, especially in the game's early stages, so your best bet is
01:12to summon torrent and run like hell.
01:15You can imagine how daunting it may be traversing the mist going forward.
01:19With bears hiding in the fog, yeah we're good thanks.
01:39The lands between is a haunting enough place as is, but when night falls, that's when
01:43the true terrors come out to play.
01:46Case in point, the death birds.
01:54Giant insidious beasts with elongated necks, cindered wings, a hooked cane that allows
01:59them to snatch up a tarnish from long distances, and most discomforting of all, it's face
02:04appears to be that of a baby bird's broken skull.
02:07We have so many questions, and yet are terrified of the answers.
02:26Scarlet Rot is one of the most lethal status effects in the whole game, a poison that will
02:31rapidly disintegrate your health.
02:33Stumbling across these things in the early game meant certain death.
02:37The only thing worse being the giant prawn people that worship it.
02:49These alien shrimps are all about praising Rot, and for any that decide to go against
02:53them, they're all too happy to barrage their foes with homing projectiles which, when accumulated,
02:59do a serious amount of damage.
03:01While they would become more manageable later on, stumbling across these things in the early
03:06game meant certain death.
03:13Basilisks.
03:20They've struck fear into every Souls player since the beginning, and their appearance
03:25in Elden Ring is no exception.
03:27First things first, the eyes.
03:30Why are they so huge and perpetually bulging out?
03:33Probably to distract us so they can pepper us with their insta-kill breath.
03:42Combined with some sharp agility, getting surrounded by a pack of these things is a
03:46surefire way for you to lose your runes.
03:48Anytime you see the glow of those eyes in the distance, you know it's going to be a
03:52bad time.
04:00Abductor Virgins.
04:08Giant automatons complete with blades and buzzsaws will always make for a sinister sight,
04:13especially when they have killer range, and even more so when they come equipped with
04:17wheels.
04:18However, the most disturbing aspect of these not-so-fair maidens is what they have lurking
04:23inside them.
04:29Get too close, and their mechanical bodies open up, revealing tendrils of flesh that
04:33will snatch you up.
04:34Either you're going to die as a result, or get teleported across the map to somewhere
04:39just as hostile.
04:40Neither outcome is preferable.
04:50Giant Ants.
04:56Pretty self-explanatory here.
04:59Giant Ants.
05:00Huge insects in any game are always a note for most people, but when it's FromSoft,
05:05they always find a way to up the ante.
05:08In this case, by having them hidden off-screen, just waiting to get the drop on us.
05:17While not especially difficult to defeat, just having to get close enough to see the
05:21detail on these pests is enough to make our skin crawl.
05:24Seriously, our time in Ansel River was one of immense squeamishness.
05:35Monstrous Dogs.
05:44Kalid is not a fun place to visit.
05:46In many ways, it's the worst, and these mutts are a major contributing factor.
05:52Deformed, aggressive, and packing a killer bite, getting chased around the infected wilds
05:57by these hounds was horrendous.
06:06They come in a selection of variants, each as diseased and unseemly as the last, and
06:11there's nothing they love more than chasing around a tarnish.
06:14They were the very first clear sign that this entire area was not for the unprepared.
06:26Revenant.
06:33Ah yes, the abominations that not only scared us half to death, but proved to be so devastatingly
06:39strong that they put a lot of regular bosses to shame.
06:49Between the acid, the teleporting, and the barrage of claw attacks that can eviscerate
06:53even the sturdiest of health pools, the Revenant became the contorted face of peak difficulty
06:59among the monsters scattered about the lands between.
07:02The fact they sometimes appear in groups just feels like overkill.
07:06Best keep those healing incantations handy.
07:15Worm faces.
07:22Why, Miyazaki?
07:24Why would you create something so disgusting and just casually have it wandering about
07:28the plateau?
07:29These behemoths are exactly what you'd expect.
07:32Hulking humanoids who have their faces completely obscured by a large amount of thriving worms.
07:44The only thing worse than looking at one is getting caught in its grasp,
07:48since it will likely result in swallowing you whole.
07:51Nothing made us want to burn the entire landscape
07:53down more than coming across one of these revolting creations.
08:03Finger Creepers.
08:15Spiders in a FromSoft game is already a recipe for pure nightmare fuel.
08:20And yet, somehow, Elden Ring took that concept and made it a million times worse with the
08:26Finger Creepers.
08:27How?
08:27By swapping out the arachnid aspect for giant sentient hands.
08:32That still happened to move just like a spider.
08:41It's a mortifying, if inspired piece of dark fantasy.
08:45One that ensured that we despised every moment of sneaking around the carrier manor,
08:50knowing we could accidentally wander into the palm of these beasts at any given moment.
09:03Which Elden Ring enemy gave you heart palpitations?
09:06Let us know in the comments.
09:32Thanks for watching!
