00:00I did want to ask you, because we did get kind of cut off.
00:03I threw you that Joey Silk earlier in the hour.
00:06I didn't really get to let you get you finished that.
00:09Give me your thoughts one more time on Joey,
00:12talking about all his injuries, football mortality.
00:15You know, they got other problems there too, Joe.
00:17Tee Higgins hasn't been seen yet in any of their off-season stuff
00:21or signed his franchise tag.
00:23Are you worried at all about Joey Silk and the Bengals
00:26going into this year?
00:27No, I'm not worried.
00:28But again, you know, when you start thinking about injuries,
00:31right, that's when injuries occur.
00:33I hate to say that, but you know, it's a reactionary sport,
00:37football, you know, when you start to think about it
00:41and think about injuries or thinking about how you're going
00:44to fall or slide, that's all of a sudden a problem,
00:47especially for a quarterback.
00:48You know, Joe Burrell is the best when he just, you know,
00:51ice cold, you know, in his veins and he steps up
00:54and he just reacts.
00:55That's the quarterback that I want to see.
00:57And again, he's so young.
00:59He's out of college, you know, basically five years.
01:01He's, I mean, he's a baby.
01:04I mean, and you're thinking about football mortality?
01:06I mean, come on.
01:08Again, he had the ACL.
01:09I get it, but they patched him up.
01:12They fixed him up.
01:13He got 55 million bucks.
01:15The wrist injury.
01:16I mean, nothing that you can't play through.
01:20You know, this is it.
01:21You're getting at your job.
01:22You want to seal the deal and you want to solidify yourself
01:25as a top-tier quarterback, win the Super Bowl,
01:28win an AFC championship.
01:30They're going to need to do it with Tee Higgins
01:32or at least Jamar Chase.
01:34Chase needs to be happy as well.
01:37He does need to be happy as well, Joe.
01:39That's for sure.
01:40I'm a little nervous.
01:42A little.
01:42You should be.
01:43You should be.
01:44We'll go, we'll stay in the AFC North
01:47and we'll go to Pittsburgh where, of course,
01:48they have not one but two new quarterbacks
01:52on the roster coming into this year.
01:54And Russell Wilson is,
01:56as Mike Tomlin has said many times,
02:00going to get the first crack.
02:01He's going to be the starter.
02:02Let's be honest.
02:03You know that Tomlin's going to go into bed
02:05with the steady hand of Russ heading into the season.
02:09But listen to Russ here, Joe.
02:11I know this is going to gas you up.
02:12He feels very good.
02:14Maybe even, let's just say, rejuvenated
02:17heading into this season.
02:18I feel, I feel the fountain of youth, man.
02:20I just, I feel,
02:22you know, I feel revived in every way.
02:23Mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
02:25I feel confident.
02:28You know, I think at some point
02:29you got to know who you are,
02:31you know, as a player, as a man,
02:33as a competitor,
02:35you know, as somebody who's been fortunate
02:37to play in this game.
02:38And I don't doubt it.
02:39You know, I just trust it.
02:41I felt really, I felt really good last year playing.
02:43You know, I felt really confident.
02:46And I missed everything.
02:47And so I think right now
02:49I have all that confidence to last ten.
02:51So I just, just use it all, you know,
02:52just use it all.
02:53You just trust it.
02:54And, you know, you take one day at a time
02:55and you just, you just,
02:57you just put in the work.
02:58I just think that that's,
02:59that's the part that I love.
03:00There's nothing like doing the work.
03:01There's no substitute.
03:02There's no substitute for the hard work.
03:04And that's, that's, that's the part that I love.
03:07Blue collar, Joe.
03:08There's no substitute for hard work.
03:10He just said it right there.
03:11No substitute.
03:11Okay, couple of things.
03:13And this is, you know,
03:14I love the Pittsburgh Steelers.
03:15Okay, again, I'll go back to the days
03:18when Nana Lisey growing up
03:19with the Franco Harris,
03:21you know, jersey in the house.
03:22She was born and raised in Jim Thorpe, PA.
03:24So we love the Pittsburgh Steelers.
03:26I wish I had Mike Tomlin
03:28as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
03:30That aside, the best quarterback on that roster
03:32happens to be Justin Fields.
03:34And if the Steelers are going to contend
03:36for an AFC North title
03:37or an AFC championship,
03:39they need to start Justin Fields sooner
03:42rather than later.
03:43And I'll say this about Russell Wilson.
03:45Okay, if I was buying a car
03:47and Russell Wilson was the,
03:48was the salesman,
03:50I would never buy a car for him
03:51because he's a complete fraud.
03:53He's selling mere,
03:54he's absolutely out there.
03:56Okay, selling snake oil.
03:57If you can't tell
03:59that what he just said was absolute joke,
04:02an absolute joke.
04:03He never worked with the Denver Broncos.
04:05He, outside that one,
04:07that one prop photo spoof
04:10that he made in terms of West Palm, Florida,
04:13where he was putting the helmet on
04:15and trying to throw with the wide receivers.
04:17He never tried to help
04:19the younger players on that team.
04:20I said it once,
04:21the Seattle teammates hated his guts,
04:24the Denver Broncos players hated his guts,
04:27and the Pittsburgh Steelers teammates
04:29will hate his guts before the season's over as well.
04:32Buy into Justin Fields sooner rather than later.
04:35He's a complete joke.
04:37And I used to think he was a gamer
04:39back in his early days in Seattle.
04:41He might have been that player 10 years ago.
04:44He's not that player now.
04:46He does it for pediatrics.
04:48Says he's found the fountain of youth.
04:50Could be a whole new story for him.
04:54Come on, Broncos Nation, come on.
04:56He's selling snake oil.
04:58He's selling snake oil and encyclopedias.
05:02Let's ride.
05:03Here's one for me, Joe, that I actually,
05:06I had to take a little step back when I heard it.
05:08So Josh Allen spoke yesterday,
05:10Buffalo Bill mandatory mini camps.
05:13And what has he been working on in the offseason, Joe?
05:16Now, Josh, I've never felt,
05:18has had any mechanic problems.
05:20When he came out in the draft, Joe,
05:21I think there was people that thought
05:23he needed to become more accurate,
05:25which he did, to be fair.
05:27You look at those completion percentage numbers
05:29for him and whatnot.
05:30They have gotten to a very high level in the league.
05:35But what has Josh been working on, Joe?
05:37He's been working on his mechanics
05:39heading into this year.
05:40Yeah, big time on just mechanically
05:42getting as efficient as possible.
05:46You know, meeting with Chris Sass, who's been here.
05:48He owns Biometric.
05:50Just digitally mapping our throwing motions right now
05:53and just seeing what we can tighten up on
05:55and improve on.
05:57And just having that in the back of our minds.
05:59So when we're doing our individual work,
06:00when we're inside the building,
06:02making sure that we're doing everything we need to do
06:04and I need to do to be as clean as possible.
06:07You know, he can deliver the ball
06:09as consistently as possible.
06:11You know, it takes less to think about
06:14and you can focus more on, you know,
06:16what the defense is presenting.
06:18So, yeah, just trying to be as efficient as possible
06:20with my throwing motion right now.
06:21This is a problem.
06:22I don't need this, Joe.
06:23Let me just tell you something.
06:24What makes this guy great
06:26is that he can do things that other guys can't.
06:29On the fly.
06:30I don't need him sitting down
06:32and starting to become some chart and graph quarterback.
06:34I don't need that, Joe.
06:35Fine, you want to be more efficient, mechanics, blah, blah, blah.
06:39I want to see him, Joe, get back to deep balls.
06:43I want to see that and get back.
06:44I want to see him making plays on the fly.
06:47That's what makes him the quarterback that he is.
06:50Not worrying about mechanics.
06:52And I'm sure all quarterbacks go through this, Joe.
06:54They want to do things quicker, better, faster, whatnot.
06:58It better not change the way that he's been, Joe,
07:00because that's why he's one of the best in the league.
07:02I agree with Josh Allen.
07:04You take the good, you take the bad and the ugly
07:06and that's the overall package, right?
07:08Yeah, you got to take everything.
07:09I will say not as much ugly anymore.
07:12No, I agree.
07:13But the interceptions at times, you know,
07:15but let me just say this.
07:16That's what makes this game so unique.
07:18And the problem, yet again, is we're having a quarterback
07:20start to worry about mechanics.
07:22Is my arm at a 90-degree angle?
07:24Is it a, do I have my right foot in front by two yards
07:28as opposed to three yards?
07:30These are all things that make players think.
07:32And, you know, you go back to a reactionary sport.
07:35I'm a believer in, if you can get the ball
07:38from point A to point B, I don't care how you do it,
07:41just do it, right?
07:43That's the biggest thing.
07:44I don't know if you remember this,
07:45but Nick Saban had a punter and it was in the book
07:48that came out that he had a punter
07:50and they changed his mechanics because he was, you know,
07:53he was trying to be more efficient.
07:55And he threw that out the window.
07:57Just do it and do it right as long as you feel comfortable.
08:00And these coaches try to change too much.
08:04And then, you know what happens?
08:05The quarterback goes into this big abyss
08:08and he never gets out.
08:09So I hope for your sake, he doesn't start listening
08:12to the charts and graphs, guys.
08:14Because then you're in trouble.
08:17I'm with you.
08:18I hope that he doesn't start listening
08:19to the charts and graphs, guys, either.
08:22But I still think, Joe,
08:24he's got a lot of interesting pieces around him this year
08:29and the offense is going to be able to move the football
08:31and they're going to be able to put points up.
08:32I saw Keon Coleman signed his rookie deal
08:34this morning as well, which is good news.
08:37You love this guy.
08:38Sleeper pick of the draft.
08:40Keon Coleman, sleeper pick of the draft.
08:42I got all Joe's favorites today.
08:44Jim Harbaugh is going to be out there on the West Coast now.
08:47Loving West Coast living
08:49and loving Joe, his new quarterback, Justin Herbert.
08:52He's glad that guy's on his team.
08:54Athleticism and strength, really.
08:55I mean, he could play tight end here.
08:58He could play edge rusher.
09:00Edge rusher.
09:02And he can really, and the arm talent
09:05is even better than advertised.
09:08No, J.J. McCartney was the best he ever saw.
09:10It's an exciting thing.
09:11I mean, I found myself just sitting at my desk
09:14at times and going,
09:17he's on our team, you know?
09:19That's your boy, Joe.
09:21That's your boy right there.
09:23Come on.
09:26Like, really?
09:28Get ready.
09:29You get a lot of that from Jim this year.
09:31Jim's going to be fun.
09:32You're going to have a lot of silly stuff
09:34that he brings out to the table.
09:36The Kansas City Chiefs,
09:38they will be ready to defend their Super Bowl.
09:41They're going for three in a row.
09:42God, somebody please stop that.
09:44Travis Kelsey, there was always that talk
09:46the last few years, Joe, of maybe some retirement
09:49for Travis.
09:49He says, no,
09:51I'm ready to keep going and I want that workload.
09:54Wear and tear me, baby.
09:55I'm ready for it, man.
09:56Put the load on me.
09:58I love being accountable for these,
10:00the men and women in this building
10:02and Chiefs kingdom.
10:03I love the aspect of, you know,
10:05everybody counting on me to try and make that play
10:07for the team and just do the right things
10:09out there on the field and
10:11better judgment for the team.
10:12I just,
10:13I don't think that anything from last year,
10:16you know, put more miles on me,
10:18made me, you know, less of a player.
10:20I think it was
10:21all in all.
10:21It was just, you know, focus
10:24being my own worst critic
10:25and capitalizing in situations that I should have.
10:29Joe, your thoughts.
10:31Like these are like, you know,
10:32who could do it better?
10:34Like, you know, so over the top.
10:36I mean, you know, the men are like
10:38when he first started saying the men and being
10:40accountable for the men and women in the building.
10:43I thought he was talking about being a firefighter.
10:46I was telling you.
10:46I mean, granted, he's a great player.
10:48We understand Travis Kelsey Hall of Famer.
10:51I get it.
10:51But come on.
10:52Could we stop now?
10:54I mean, really, you know, could somebody beat them?
10:57Could somebody beat them this year?
10:59Hopefully it's Joey.
11:00So I don't want to see him in there again.
11:03I don't want to see his brother in the stands.
11:06I don't want to see Taylor Swift and
11:08the whole bed with the outfit and, you know,
11:12enough, enough.
11:13I'm sick of it.
11:16You and me both, Joe.
11:18In fact, you, me, and probably everybody else
11:19who isn't a Kansas City Chief fan.
11:21We're hoping that somehow, some way
11:24that rain ends here this year.
11:26They are the favorites again, though, to win the AFC
11:29as you see up there on the big board.
11:30Nice, hefty three-to-one price.
11:33Ravens, Bills, Bengals, Texans, Dolphins, Jets,
11:37et cetera, et cetera, down the board for the AFC.
11:40Carver, I'll tell you what.
11:42You take the first five choices and you can't lose money,
11:45right?
11:45I mean, that's the way I think.
11:46The Dolphins aren't winning the AFC championship.
11:49Like, come on.
11:50I'm a Dolphin fan.
11:51We know that.
11:52I mean, that's no shot.
11:54They got absolutely no shot.
11:58No shot.
11:59Georgia's no shot.
12:00Jets, no shot.
12:02I'll go through the, put the list up again.
12:04No shot.
12:05Raiders, no shot.
12:06We know it.
12:07Texans, maybe.
12:08Outside, you know, chance, maybe.
12:11Joey Silk and Buffalo, I would say are the two best to
12:14potentially dethrone them.
12:15But who knows what you're going to get out of Josh Allen now
12:18with the charts and grids.
12:20You know?
12:20All right, let's play the games first.
12:23We'll play the games first before we see how deep into
12:25the weeds he's gone with that.
12:27Here's Dak Prescott saying for the 900th time this offseason
12:31that he's willing to gamble on himself.
12:33But this time, Joe, he wanted to make sure he let people
12:35know that's not exactly what he means.
12:37But there's also some uncertainty with contracts for
12:40guys, last year for you, last year for some guys, every
12:43coach, all that stuff.
12:44Does it raise any urgency as you're going into this season?
12:49This is the urgency you should always have, to be honest.
12:51So, so maybe guys who normally wouldn't fill it, fill it.
12:55So, so I don't mind it.
12:57I've been in this position before.
12:58I'm a gambling man.
12:59Will gamble on myself and my guys.
13:01So, not actually, guys.
13:02I understand you're doing a lot of s**t with that.
13:07Not that way.
13:09So, yeah, that being said, yeah, there you go.
13:14Sure, Joe.
13:15I like that.
13:16I know, I know.
13:18Hell, we don't need a Justin Porter type of situation, right?
13:23We don't need a Jameson Williams or a Calvin Ridley type of
13:26situation.
13:27No, no, don't track my phone.
13:29No, no, no, no, no.
13:30That's for me.
13:32NFC.
13:34There's the NFC for you as well, Joe.
13:36Look at all the football I gave you today.
13:38The Niners are there.
13:39There's the, there's the Cowboys under the Packers now, huh?
13:42Packers are higher on the board than the Cowboys.
13:45Well, here's what I'll say.
13:46You bet the Niners, the Lions, the Eagles, the Packers.
13:50Here we go.
13:51And then take your shot on the Rams.
13:52Joe's got it all figured out.
13:54Joe's got it all figured out.
13:55The Rams are the outlier.
13:56The Rams, I think, are going to have some juice.
13:59As long as Stafford's there, Pukunuku, you got Blake Corham,
14:02Kyron Williams.
14:03I mean, come on, they're loaded.
14:05I mean, as long as they're healthy.
14:06You got Jared Verse, excellent choice.
14:08Fisk, excellent choice to make up for Aaron Donald.
14:12I think they're going to be there.
14:13Don't be shocked.
14:14You heard it here first.
14:16Don't be shocked if the Rams challenge the Niners for the
14:19West title.
