00:00Azeelina was the one who, in Parliament, made a statement that I made this decision on my
00:12own without consultation, which is absolute nonsense, because I was following the progress
00:20of the negotiation and attempt to question or seek interpretation from ICG over the findings
00:36of ICG. And I never made any decision by myself. I read all the papers, including one from
00:45five senior lawyers from England, including QC. They gave the opinion that our case was
00:55weak. That was in one letter. They put it down in writing, Marshall and others put down
01:05in writing that we have a very weak case. That is the letter. Then, before I was given
01:15a briefing, Brendan Plante came to see me and explained to me the situation, and he
01:27gave the opinion that our case was weak. There was no silver bullet to determine our victory.
01:41Brendan Plante came to see me and gave me a statement. After that, we had a briefing,
01:56which was attended by AG Mianstaf, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mianstaf, and the two local
02:07lawyers who were appointed by Appendi as consultants, together with Dr. Brendan Plante.
02:18And during the statement, of course, we discussed, but at no time did anybody contradict the view of
02:29Brendan Plante that our case was weak and we were at risk if we go ahead. So, at the end of the
02:43statement, I was asked to make a decision. I was asked to be given time to make a decision.
02:54So, I said, that was on the 17th. By the 21st, I still did not make a decision. I merely wrote
03:08a letter to the Pegong Cara that I have this opinion, not a decision, not an order, not a
03:22directive, but pendapat. Pendapat means opinion, that in my opinion, we should not go ahead with
03:35the move we were making. So, even then, at that time, that was on the 21st, before the 23rd,
03:46when the Cabinet was sitting. So, at that time, I did not make any decision. I merely expressed my
03:56opinion. So, the matter was brought by me to Cabinet, and I explained everything about what
04:07Brendan says and all that. And the Cabinet did not oppose, did not reject the idea that we should not
04:22go ahead with our move. So, that was the final decision. The decision was made by the Cabinet,
04:32not by me alone. And as a result, of course, Singapore was informed.
