00:00be qualified for the next stage and you know how i guess yeah how will you kind
00:04of react to that from uh yeah it's definitely a better start than what we're used to in world
00:09cups um the last couple have been a bit slow starting and then we sort of got the ball rolling
00:13but uh it's nice to have a cue next game i guess and sort of not stuck any ready for super eights
00:19we've still got one game left but um yeah i guess we can we can ease off a little bit over the next
00:24few days and and freshen up when the super eights is quite taxing it looks like the the schedule
00:29with with flights and um and late games and early flights so um yeah we'll freshen up for that
00:36for that reason and also um the benefit of giving some of the other guys a game like
00:41would you expect against scotland that um a couple of the other squad players who haven't played yet
00:45might might get a game um yeah obviously it's up to the coaches and the captain but and the
00:52selectors but i think quite a few of us oh i haven't been playing so i'm still keen to to get
00:58out there and still um still work on a couple of things but i mean the guys have been playing ipl so
01:02potentially one or two of those might have a rest but um you know it hasn't been a grueling schedule
01:08um you know a game every three or four days isn't too tough in in t20 cricket so
01:14um yeah i think it'd be up to almost up to the individual i think in that regard
01:21judge i know it's just one over between the first and the second but just
01:25is it different bowling the first or i know you've done it in the past but just become so used to
01:29seeing uh stark do it uh it looked like it was hooping around as well in that first over uh
01:35it wasn't great at the uh where you jumped from from that end so it was it was quite a big hole
01:39there um which i found quite tough i was i was pretty much right out the middle of it so
01:44i found that tough and tough to get used to but um in terms of on the first over
01:49it's probably a little bit easier if anything um i think the batters most of the batters sort
01:53of have a couple of starters um and if you can get a single at the right time you get the new
01:57fresh goal strike again for a fresh start so i find you know from the second over through to the
02:02sixth is pretty tough bowling um the guys have had a look they've summed up the conditions
02:08and at least one of the batters is going pretty hard usually so
02:11i think statistically the first day was the least amount of runs usually
02:17and just like in a world cup and you've been part of a few world cups now
02:21how important is is a win like that like not just in terms of winning and qualifying but
02:26almost like sending a signal to all the other teams the ruthlessness that you showed today
02:30yeah i think you know in the back of your head turning up today that's how the day should go for
02:34us and um it's one thing thinking that it's another thing actually going out and and doing it
02:39um so i was up to us obviously to set the tone as the bowling group and to have them i think
02:44three for 16 four for five for 20 odd um really sort of set that tone and then obviously we got
02:50the freedom with the bat to chase the lowest score um as quickly as possible and help that
02:55net running rate again that we don't necessarily take into the super eights um we only have one
02:59more game but yeah it's a it's a it's good to get a win like that and just finally for me just the
03:05first test in this world cup of uh different conditions like barbados to antique and from
03:10this point on you doing that constantly like was that like important to kind of get used to as well
03:17yeah i think so um in terms of probably the wind that's always there so you gotta use that to
03:24advantage as best you can as a bowling group and i think it's just about adapting and probably
03:28communication are the two things we use we work on quite a bit as a as a bowling group and getting
03:34that information around pretty quickly of how the wickets reacting what's going to work best in these
03:38conditions um yeah and make sure everyone knows that and and it gets around and um we adapt so
03:45i found we did that very well against england's um and and tonight was a pretty good wicket for
03:50the quicks to be honest um new ball wicket but it it probably got better as the ball got a little
03:56bit older to bat on and then it spun quite a bit with for zamps so um yeah decent cricket wicket
04:02josh you touched on it before but um your net run rate's gonna be through the roof now i'm
04:06not sure what the exact number but it's probably the best in the in the competition
04:10it's not going to count for anything um just how kind of frustrating is that
04:14yeah it's a little bit um strange that it doesn't really it doesn't go through the tournament um
04:20this is probably the first t20 world cup i've played that's set up this way or first world
04:24cup in general that's set up this way so it's a little bit different and um yeah i think the work
04:30that you do in the in the round games and you know if you go through undefeated and have a good net
04:34run rate um doesn't really account for much once you're in the super eight so um yeah it's a strange
04:42one but um yeah that's how it is i think adam zampa was the first australian to 100 australian
04:49man to australian uh 100 t20 wickets thank you thank you um and then he said in his tv interview
04:56that he bowled a couple of pies to get a couple of wickets um do you kind of agree with that
05:01assessment or is there a bit more to it uh i think there's only one pilot i saw um no he's been
05:07fantastic for us um i think in the england game in particular he came on and bowled outstanding
05:12and then tonight um got rewards for his hard work um he's just crucial for us through the middle
05:19if we can set the tone and grab one or two early and get him through that through the middle order
05:23and lower order it's as we saw tonight he can really make some damage and um yeah 100 t20
05:29gets his outstanding first first mile to do it for australia so um yeah congrats and what about
05:34just um like i know tonight was a bit of an anomaly but um the way trav and dave are attacking
05:39the power play um have you seen a kind of opening pair as dangerous in your time playing t20s for
05:45australia uh i don't think so i mean dave's obviously been there from the start um played
05:52a lot of cricket with him but having trav there sort of they're obviously both left-handers but
05:56they their score runs different parts of the of the field and it you know the bowler has to adapt
06:01his line to to both of them so it's it's hard work for the bowl that's for sure um we saw trav
06:06through for the ipl just light it up um i think i think one opener has to do it um the game's so
06:13short that one opener just has to take upon himself and i think with us it can be either one um
06:19travis probably more likely but i think it's the either one that can really light it up in the
06:23first six and you definitely need that in in these conditions josh you said you came to keep playing
06:30and work on a few things it looks like you're going pretty well at the minute so what do you
06:33want to work on leading it to scotland uh i think just that rhythm just keep keep bowling i mean you
06:39can do it at training but i think in a game is it's so much better um getting that experience
06:44and again different wicket again so it's just about adapting but yeah just keeping that rhythm
06:49going i find i go better the more i play usually and um ball's coming out pretty well at the minute
06:54um but we'll probably get put on a little bit more pressure against scotland and that might
06:58be some death options that we're working on and um trying to nail down so a couple things
07:05um josh just back to net run rate but um england's obviously one of the better teams in the tournament
07:12um they are going to be relying on net run rate to get through to the next stage
07:17is it in australia's interest to uh if there's anything that can be done about it in the scotland
07:22game to make it as difficult as possible for england to progress yeah i think so um in this
07:29tournament you potentially come up against england at some stage again and as you said they're
07:32probably one of the top few teams um on their day or you know we've had some real struggles against
07:38them in t20 cricket so um if we can get them out of the tournament that's in our best interest as
07:42well as probably everyone else but um yeah it's it'll be interesting to see we've never really
07:47been in this position before as a as a team i don't think so whether we have discussions or not
07:52or we just try and play it again the way we did tonight um yeah that'll be up to people not me
07:58how do you think it how do you think it would look like um not too sure really whether you get close
08:05and you just knock it around and drag it out um there's a few options there but um as you said it
08:12to take confidence from winning and winning well i think that's almost more important than
08:16potentially trying to knock someone else out um they're still got a lot to do on their behalf as
08:21well so i think that i think it'll become clearer the closer we get to that sort of stuff and josh
08:28how are you um being a new father and being over here how have you sort of kept in contact at home
08:34and uh yeah how's that experience been yeah it's been different uh first tour i've been on since
08:39becoming a father obviously so um yeah it's tougher to leave home probably but you know
08:44with the time difference here it's quite tough to keep in keep in contact as well but um
08:49yeah luckily i guess it's not a huge tour it's not a national tour where it goes for three months so
08:54be back home before we know uh yeah uh just just just on adam's ample but uh coming to him like
09:00when you talk about test cricket uh you uh mitch and pat there's always talk of nathan lyon and
09:06the importance of his role like to complete that bowling attack do you think we need to talk more
09:12about adam zampa in the same same vein like i'm sure you guys do but in terms of whiteball cricket
09:17and what he brings to the attack to aid the three of you yeah we certainly do within the team for
09:23sure um we know his importance um we've seen it time and time again in whether it be one day
09:28cricket or t20 cricket often in big tournaments and in big games as well so um we know his
09:34importance um 100 t20 gets first one there played the most t20 for australia's bowler so he's
09:40ticking a lot of boxes and continues to and i think the big thing is he continues to improve
09:45all the time he's always working on something and nailing down his lengths or whatever it is so
09:50yeah he's a he's a key part of our team thank you
