00:00As a celebration of Independence Day, two job fairs were held by DOLE and DMW in Metro Manila.
00:08Rod Laguza's news center will tell you more about the activities. Yes, Rod.
00:15Angelique, more than 50,000 vacancies can be entered in the Independence Day job fair here in Metro Manila.
00:23This is one of the job fairs held by more than 500 local and overseas employers.
00:27According to DOLE and NCR, there are 11 job sites in NCR and other malls to make it more comfortable for those looking for jobs.
00:36One of the malls here is in Pasig City.
00:39When it comes to the effectiveness of these job fairs,
00:43This is one way for our job seekers to have access for them to get hired.
00:55We will continue our partnership with LGUs through PESO.
01:07LGUs are also experiencing vacancies.
01:10As for the employers, they are still being encouraged to join the job fairs.
01:16Last year, more than 10 percent were hired on the spot.
01:20Meanwhile, the mismatch continues.
01:23It's a longstanding challenge for our government.
01:30We will continue our partnership with LGUs because there is a mismatch.
01:33It means that there are skills that are required by the employers.
01:38This is what we are addressing, the needs of our employers, the skills required.
01:45Here in NCR, the service sector is the majority where the hotel industry, BPO and retail are located.
01:52Aside from DOLE, in the nearby mall here in Quezon City, the Department of Migrant Workers also held a job fair.
01:59This is done through their Pre-Employment and Government Placement Bureau.
02:02According to the DMW, one of the job fairs is located in 23 recruitment agencies, land-based and sea-based.
02:09From here, more than 7,200 jobs are allocated here.
02:13All right. Thank you very much Rod Lagusad.
