00:08This is part of the celebration of Independence Day today,

00:12where thousands of jobs were opened to our countrymen in different parts of the country.

00:21Audrey, right now, the Kalayaan Job Fair 2024 is taking place inside a mall in Manila,

00:31handled by the Department of Labor and Employment, or DOLE, for our countrymen.

00:36Today marks the 126th anniversary of our independence.

00:43The happiness of the first job seekers who were hired on the spot is unparalleled.

00:49For a long time, since the pandemic, they have been looking for a job.

00:54From Leyte, Kuya Joseph left Manila.

00:57He was the first one to get a job here at the Job Fair.

01:01His road trip took one and a half days just to go to the Job Fair in Manila

01:07because of the difficult situation in their province.

01:10Aside from the difficulty of getting a job,

01:14he was usually not given a chance in any position

01:19because he was not able to finish his college and change his curriculum.

01:24This is his third year in the course of BS Business Administration Major in Information Management

01:30when he decided to stop because the continuation of the new course added to his matriculation.

01:37Meanwhile, Ate Jacqueline, who was the third one to be hired at the Job Fair,

01:42became a full-time mother during the pandemic.

01:46Ate Jacqueline came to Manila from Quezon with her partner in 2020.

01:51But now, she is looking for a job again.

01:56What do you feel when you got a job here in Manila?

02:00Of course, I'm happy because I can use my money for my requirements.

02:06I won't have to spend it on other things.

02:09And I'll know that at least I'll be able to earn income for the next month.
