04:55We're now going to be joined by Alana Atkinson to sing Soup Angels. Alana will be accompanied this morning by James Henry on piano and Kaiwin Martin on cello. Soup Angels is written about our ancestors, Maggie and Henry, who travelled by horse and cart from Coranderrk to Cummerah, and across Victoria to help people in need who were plagued by war.
05:18Maggie and Henry provided soup made from produce from their famous garden and had a shop front located at Cummerah. A pair of angels.
05:49I sit in this church, it's all I can do. A sickness devours me, the white man bore through. He tells me Lord Jesus will save my soul.
06:11From heathens and godless, from brothers I know. Dear Maggie and Henry, oh please hear my cry. From Coranderrk to Cummerah, on horse and cart.
06:33A four gallon tin and a broth made for me. Soup angels deliver me in my hour of need.
06:50I sit in hunger with weakness in breath. I wait for his God to come save me from death. But how can he save me? He's nailed to the wall.
07:14I've lost all my brothers, I've given up all. Dear Maggie and Henry, oh please hear my cry.
07:29From Coranderrk to Cummerah, on horse and cart. A four gallon tin and a broth made for me. Soup angels deliver me in my hour of need.
07:52Maggie was known far and wide for harvests she tended with all her pride.
08:12He would perish a front, a haughty shoal, and send his three children to fight in the war.
08:28Dear Maggie and Henry, oh please hear my cry. From Coranderrk to Cummerah, on horse and cart.
08:41A four gallon tin and a broth made for me. Soup angels deliver me in my hour of need.
09:11I fear the dark, the flames of hell. I fear the damnation, the white light.
09:41I lay on my deathbed with sickness he brings. But my brothers, they'll save me with angel wings.
09:58Dear Maggie and Henry, oh please hear my cry. From Coranderrk to Cummerah, on horse and cart.
10:12A four gallon tin and a broth made for me. Soup angels deliver me in my hour of need.
