00:02 - All right, let's talk some starting pitching here
00:06 because last week, I believe,
00:08 I don't wanna put words in your mouth,
00:09 you said that this was the perfect sell-high candidate.
00:12 And the response could be,
00:14 how do we determine a sell-high candidate,
00:17 a player that has maybe reached their peak in return,
00:19 versus a guy that is breaking out
00:22 and then you look back at the end of the year
00:24 and he still ended up doing it in August?
00:27 Talking about Luis Hiel in the New York Yankees.
00:29 - Well, I said winter is coming for Luis Hiel.
00:32 And just like Ned Stark,
00:34 a lot of people wanted to cut my head off and I get it.
00:36 I understand.
00:38 But as good as he's been, we do have to be realistic.
00:41 We are coming up closer and closer.
00:43 We're almost at 70 innings now.
00:45 96 is the all-time peak for him in 2019.
00:48 So at some point, something's gotta give here
00:50 and Hiel has been fantastic.
00:51 He has been Garrett Cole.
00:53 In some respects, maybe even better than you expected
00:55 from Garrett Cole at certain times.
00:57 Garrett Cole is working his way back.
00:58 Somebody's gonna get out of this rotation.
01:00 And it shouldn't be Hiel based on performance,
01:02 but it might be Hiel based on just the Yankees
01:05 looking at the longterm and saying,
01:06 "All right, we're getting Garrett Cole back.
01:08 "If we move Hiel to the minor leagues,
01:10 "let him throw three innings, stay in that rotation stuff,
01:13 "kind of let him slowly build back up,
01:15 "bring him back up in the rotation at some point,
01:17 "or move him to the bullpen,"
01:19 which I don't like that idea nearly as much.
01:22 It's gonna be a problem.
01:23 And sure, other injuries could crop up any moment
01:26 for this Yankees rotation.
01:27 But at the same time, you have to be realistic.
01:29 It is only June.
01:31 So what is that inning total look like this year?
01:34 Is it 125?
01:35 Is it 130?
01:36 I don't think it's 150 or 60.
01:38 I can tell you that right now.
01:39 And what does it look like when he reaches that mark?
01:41 Does he start to fatigue?
01:42 We've seen it happen with guys who are as good,
01:45 if not better than Hiel before in their careers.
01:47 And that's the frustrating thing with him.
01:48 So as good as he's been, and he has been great.
01:51 I mean, look, the last three starts here,
01:53 he's 3-0, 23 strikeouts, a .44 ERA, a .54 whip.
01:57 Those numbers are unsustainable anyway.
01:59 But I think at a certain point,
02:00 you have to be more realistic.
