00:03 - Something is wrong in the Bronx with the New York Yankees.
00:06 Losers of nine straight games.
00:08 And if we take a look here at the American League standings,
00:10 particularly in the East, the Yankees in last place,
00:13 60 wins, 65 losses, 17 games back of the Baltimore Orioles.
00:18 Just a few short years ago, it was usually the opposite.
00:21 The Yankees, 17 games up on the Baltimore Orioles.
00:24 Let's hear from manager Aaron Boone
00:26 on taking yet another loss.
00:29 - Aaron, just nine straight losses.
00:31 How would you characterize the morale of the room right now?
00:34 - Pretty down, but we gotta, you know,
00:37 we gotta fight through it.
00:39 I mean, that's, again, we, you know,
00:42 I think we're doing and saying the right things,
00:45 but it's, you know, we're in it.
00:49 - Yeah, Boone's at a loss for words right there,
00:52 and rightfully so.
00:53 Yesterday, maybe coming to a head against the Nationals.
00:56 You play them in your own ballpark, Mark.
00:58 One run, two hits, nine straight losses.
01:01 Where does it end, and does it actually end?
01:04 - I can't tell you how nauseated I am.
01:07 And Donnie, look, you have to kind of sit through
01:10 me railing on the Yankees,
01:11 'cause I think I've done it
01:12 in every single SportsGrid show,
01:13 with every single SportsGrid host
01:14 over the course of the last month and a half,
01:16 but I am so tired of the crap that Boone spills
01:20 at the end of these press conferences.
01:22 You know, at this point, just say,
01:23 "We stink, we're not very good,
01:25 "and it's not gonna get better,"
01:27 because at least that would be the honest truth,
01:29 instead of, "We're just gonna fight through it."
01:31 Thanks, Skipper.
01:32 We really appreciate that positive note,
01:35 when in reality, you know, the morale in that room,
01:38 half those guys are thankful
01:39 that they're on a major league roster,
01:41 because they shouldn't be.
01:42 They should not be on a major league roster,
01:44 'cause they're not major league players.
01:46 The Yankees got more guys wearing numbers in their 80s
01:49 than I've ever seen in my entire life
01:50 when it's not spring training,
01:52 and these kids are all starting
01:54 because they don't have a major league roster.
01:57 That's the bottom line.
01:59 You're losing games this way
02:00 because the roster is so poorly constructed,
02:03 and you can talk about injuries and everything else,
02:05 whatever, it doesn't matter.
02:06 Josh Donaldson was batting less than my sister's weight
02:09 before he was put on the IL,
02:11 and that was an acquisition that Brian Cashman made
02:14 to make this team better.
02:15 Guess what?
02:16 He's not good.
02:17 The roster isn't good.
02:19 The coaching isn't good.
02:20 There's a reason why they've lost nine in a row,
02:22 and they will miss the playoffs,
02:24 and they'll be under 500 for the first time in 30 years
02:29 is because this is a poorly constructed team
02:32 that doesn't play baseball well.
