00:00 "The government will spend an additional 200 million ringgit on technical and vocational
00:06 education and training programs, which is expected to reach 13,000 youths," Prime
00:11 Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.
00:14 He said the funding will be channeled through the Skills Development Fund Corporation to
00:18 finance students wanting to pursue studies in the areas of energy transition, technology
00:22 and digital, high-value electrical and electronics, agriculture and rare earth elements.
00:29 He added that the fields involved include electric vehicles, cybersecurity, artificial
00:34 intelligence, advanced materials, electronic technology, farm mechanization, and agricultural
00:40 and livestock automation.
00:42 He said funding in these fields will encourage TVET institutions to develop training programs
00:47 in line with the National Energy Transition Roadmap and the new Industrial Master Plan
00:51 2030.
00:52 Meanwhile, regarding subsidies, Anwar said a targeted subsidy does not mean cancelling
00:57 the subsidy for good.
01:00 He said diesel subsidies will be given to the poor, while the rich will not be eligible,
01:03 adding that around 4 billion ringgit would be saved annually with targeted diesel subsidies.
