Michael B. Moore, the Democrat running to unseat Congresswoman Nancy Mace, joined "Forbes Newsroom" to discuss the Supreme Court decision to uphold South Carolina's congressional map that critics said was discriminatory based on race, the primary election, and former President Donald Trump's guilty verdict.

00:00Former President Donald Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business
00:06records.
00:07And I want to read you Nancy Mace's reaction in part and then get your response to that.
00:11She told this to News Nation over the weekend.
00:15She's hearing that people think Trump, quote, would have had a fairer trial if he mugged
00:19an old lady on the subway and looted Lululemon on the way home.
00:23She also calls the result political.
00:26What do you think of her reaction?
00:30You know, it's not surprising.
00:32Look, either we're a nation of laws or we're not.
00:37Donald Trump was convicted by a jury of his peers in his city, in the city certainly where
00:43he committed these crimes.
00:45And and, you know, Nancy Mace has been doing, if nothing else, she's been trying to pander
00:51to the former president, you know, for the last couple of years.
00:54So this doesn't surprise me.
00:57You know, look, it's disappointing in a lot of ways that our country has to to deal with
01:02this.
01:03But it's also deeply disappointing that a former president would have such disregard
01:08for the law to be able, you know, he apparently felt like he could do anything.
01:13And so, you know, again, we're a nation of laws and and, you know, that this where we
01:21are.
01:22She also said that she believes the purple or the the independent voters in your purple
01:28district are now moving to supporting Trump more after this verdict.
01:33She's saying she's hearing that from constituents.
01:35Are you hearing that, too?
01:37No, I mean, again, I think our purple district demonstrated the swing nature of the district
01:47when Nikki Haley beat Donald Trump in our district.
01:50I think Nancy Mace really made an enormous political miscalculation by trying to do her
01:56best to align with that extreme MAGA wing of her party and align with with former President
02:03Trump when her district is much more purple, much more centrist.
02:08And and so I think she's vulnerable on that.
02:10So, you know, we'll we'll we'll we'll see.
02:14We've got a primary coming up and she's on the ballot as well.
02:17So, you know, we'll see how this all plays out.
02:19The primary is coming up.
02:21It is a week away.
02:23What's next for your campaign?
02:24What are you doing between now and the finish line?
02:27Yeah, we are, you know, maximizing every moment to get our message out to to voters.
02:34A lot of voters were found mistakenly believe that when they voted in the presidential primary
02:40in February, that that was the last time they needed to go to the polls until November.
02:44So we're very much out talking to folks, reminding them, telling them that, hey, there's a very
02:50important election coming up and urging them to to get to the polls.
02:53We will have a number of events.
02:57Our days are full and we're excited about the opportunity.
03:00We've got a big debate coming up on Thursday.
03:04And so looking forward to that and just working hard and sprinting through the finish, to
03:09use a sports analogy.
