00:00 I'm here at Darwin Country for the Barunga Festival just near Katherine where thousands
00:06 of people are going to descend this weekend for a celebration of First Nations culture,
00:11 First Nations music and also footy.
00:14 And you can see behind me the first game for the weekend is underway.
00:18 It's a playoff between the top and bottom ranked team and there's some fierce competition.
00:23 We've also got hundreds of spectators who've turned out to watch the event and we'll see
00:30 more spectators throughout the weekend drawn to Barunga.
00:34 This entire remote community is becoming a festival site over the next couple of days
00:39 for traditional owners to come together from all different parts of the territory and around
00:44 Australia to celebrate their culture and practice it and carry it forward for the next generations.
00:51 But as you can see footy is going to be a big feature of the festival and as more matches
