00:00 40 Chinese nationals were arrested in Paranaque because illegal immigrants work in the Philippines.

00:12 In this subdivision in Paranaque City, 37 Chinese nationals were arrested in an operation of the Bureau of Immigration.

00:25 According to the BI, the operation was based on the complaint of the residents.

00:29 The Immigration Bureau discovered that the people who were arrested were illegal immigrants working in the country.

00:35 Some of them are in the food retail business, some are in restaurants and groceries.

00:41 Most of them have a tourist visa.

00:44 Despite the fact that we can see one of them with a working visa, it's a violation of their visa because a foreign national issued a working visa.

00:56 It must be a company-specific visa.

00:58 You must work in the company where you were detained.

01:03 At this time, the Chinese were detained in the detention facility of the BI in Camp Bagondiwa.

01:09 While the process of their deportation was being completed.

01:12 It would depend if they have pending cases here in the Philippines and their travel documents.

01:21 Despite that, the BI clarified that the Chinese were not being targeted on purpose because of the tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
