00:13 The barangay rojas in Quezon City temporarily stopped the rain
00:22 to spray against the weeds and put OV traps.
00:26 This is a consequence of the flood of the past few days.
00:29 This is our prevention to avoid the disease of dengue.
00:33 We have regular clean-up.
00:35 We give particular time to the places where we have reported cases.
00:40 A daughter of Leonora had dengue fever before.
00:43 That's why she's afraid of continuous rain.
00:46 It's hard for the children to get sick, especially if the flood is always happening at this time.
00:51 That's why the Department of Health doesn't want to be a partner.
00:55 Even so, the number of people who have dengue fever has decreased by 19% from January to July 22
01:01 compared to the same time last year.
01:04 The number of cases has increased since April.
01:07 And in the past few weeks, the most cases were reported in Mimaropa, Cordillera, Davao Region,
01:13 Zamboanga Peninsula, and Sok Sargent.
01:16 Almost 300 people have died.
01:19 Two to four weeks after the heavy rain, the cases of dengue fever increased again.
01:27 Because early detection and treatment are important,
01:30 we should be alert to symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, and rashes.
01:35 Also, headaches, eye problems, and even colds and coughs.
01:39 If you have severe dengue, you may get sick and have many complications, including cough.
01:45 The chances of getting sick are higher if you have dengue fever.
01:49 If the flood is decreasing or if the flood is disappearing,
01:56 that's when the symptoms that we should bring to the hospital are coming out.
02:05 To avoid dengue, remember the 5S strategy of the DOH.
02:09 This includes opening the possible flood gates, self-protection, and early consultation with a doctor.
