00:00 We will now go to the accident in the house of the former MMDA chairman,

00:04 the former mayor and the laughingstock of Marikina, Bayani Fernando.

00:08 His long career in politics, let's go back to the testimony of Joseph Morong.

00:13 Do you remember the times when the color pink was spreading in Metro Manila,

00:28 Those were part of the Metro Guapo campaign to improve Metro Manila

00:32 led by Bayani Fernando, a mechanical engineer in the heart of politics.

00:38 The former mayor of Marikina, his father,

00:40 he also held a position from 1992 to 2001.

00:44 His pink projects of Alcalde Papi spread throughout Metro Manila

00:49 by the former MMDA chairman from 2002 to 2009,

00:54 projects that divided the public's opinion.

00:57 In 2000, he became a public works and highways secretary for 33 months.

01:01 He ran for vice president in the 2010 election but lost.

01:07 From 2016 to 2022, he became the head of the first district of Marikina.

01:12 Aside from politics, he also has business related to construction and infrastructure.

01:17 But today, he was struck by his long career in politics and business of BF.

01:24 On 7/12, the Marikina DRRMO launched Rescue 161,

01:28 bloodstained head and face, after falling from the roof where he was being buried.

01:34 He was not conscious when he was rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

01:38 In the hospital, at 12.16 pm, he was found dead.

01:41 He was brought to Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina.

01:45 The Marikina LGU expressed their condolences.

01:48 The DPWH also reminded Fernando of the "unallied no-nonsense" approach

01:52 in leaving the roadside, cleaning up the finished projects,

01:57 and properly marking the equipment of the construction site.

02:00 While the MMDA recognized Fernando's analyzed, scientific, and practical views

02:05 to solve the problems in Metro Manila.

02:08 A quiet leader, focused on work and strict with the people.

02:12 Fernando will be buried in a chapel in Riverbank, Marikina.

02:16 He will announce the next day when he will open his funeral to the public.
