00:00 The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has granted Datuk Seri Najib Razak's request to submit
00:07 two additional affidavits in his bid to commence a judicial review over an alleged Royal Addendum
00:13 Order that would allow him to serve the remainder of his prison term under house arrest.
00:19 Justice Amarjeet Singh also fixed July 3 to deliver his decision in Najib's application
00:25 for judicial review.
00:27 Senior Federal Counsel Shamsul Bolhassan, representing the Attorney General's Chambers
00:32 (AGC), confirmed the new date following the inclusion of the two additional affidavits.
00:38 These affidavits include one affirmed by Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Razdiwan Ismail
00:44 and another based on a speech by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Parti Ke Adilan
00:50 Rakyat (PKR) 25th Convention in April 2023.
00:54 SFC Shamsul stated that the AGC objected to the submission of the affidavits on the grounds
01:00 that they were filed out of time.
01:03 Today was initially scheduled for the decision on the main application.
01:07 However, the Court allowed the application to insert the affidavits.
01:12 Najib's lawyer Tan Sri Mohammed Shafi Abdullah confirmed that the affidavits had been accepted
01:16 by the Court.
01:18 Najib filed the application for leave for judicial review on April 1.
01:23 He named the Home Minister, the Commissioner General of Prisons, the Attorney General,
01:27 the Federal Territories Pardons Board, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Department
01:32 for Law and Institutional Reform, the Director General of Legal Affairs at the Prime Minister's
01:37 Department and the Government as the first to seventh respondents, respectively.
01:42 In his application, Najib seeks a mandamus order requiring the respondents to confirm
01:48 the existence of the addendum order dated January 29.
01:53 If the addendum order exists, he requests that the respondents execute the Royal Order
01:59 and transfer him from Kajang Prison to his residence in Kuala Lumpur to serve the remainder
02:03 of his sentence under house arrest.
02:06 On May 21, Wan Razdi affirmed a five-page affidavit claiming that he was informed about
02:12 the Royal Addendum Order by Tengku Datuk Shri Zafrul Abdul Aziz on the afternoon of January
02:18 30.
02:19 Later that evening, Wan Razdi attended a meeting at the residence of UMNO President Datuk Shri
02:25 Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Country Heights, Kajang, with several other notable figures,
02:31 including Datuk Shri Johari Abdul Ghani, Datuk Shri Ahmad Maslan and Datuk Shri Azalina Othman
02:37 Saeed.
02:38 Wan Razdi, who is an UMNO vice president, however, said that he did not have a copy
02:43 of the addendum order due to its secrecy as it had not yet taken effect.
