00:00 Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers, speaking
00:06 to a lady who needs no introduction, Dawn Gracie. And Dawn, once again, thank goodness
00:11 you are central to our Festival of Chichester with a couple of fabulous events. Now the
00:15 first one is June 22nd, Chichester Cabaret Club at Oaples Park in the Rugby Club. Now
00:23 you're saying it's a naughty night out. It is. It is. It's a bi-monthly club that happens
00:32 and it is for, yes, it's for grown-ups' entertainment, shall we say. With a broad mind. Broad-minded,
00:40 open-minded, not for the easily offended. Absolutely. And you're saying that this was
00:44 the kind of entertainment which you have introduced to Chichester when you first started. This
00:50 didn't happen in the city, did it? I know. 2013 was my first show in Chichester and that
00:55 doesn't seem that long ago, but that's 11 years ago. And yeah, so it was completely
00:59 new and I've been basically been doing it ever since, even online during lockdown. And
01:04 there's a real appetite, isn't there? There is. I mean, the last show, I mean, it sells
01:11 out every time with a waiting list. So I just need a bigger venue, but that's the next on
01:16 the dream list. So why is it so popular, do you think? I think because, you know, Chichester
01:22 is a big place, it's a big city and people spend their time sort of going to other places
01:26 to see this sort of entertainment and they don't need to. So people now travel to Chichester
01:30 to see it. But, you know, it's variety entertainment at the end of the day. Who doesn't love variety?
01:36 Absolutely. And you're saying just because it's the festival, you've really pushed the
01:40 boat. For the first time ever at Cabaret Club, we have got a martini glass performer and
01:49 that is a performer doing a theatrical performance inside a martini glass, but a giant one, not
01:55 a small one, a giant one. And I've got a performer from RuPaul's Drag Race UK coming along, the
02:02 UK's only Geri Halliwell drag impersonator. So, yeah, so I really pushed the boat out.
02:08 So it's going to be an epic, as always, for the festival.
02:10 Fantastic. Well, Isela, we're absolutely thrilled that you're so much part of the festival.
02:15 Thank you very much indeed.
02:16 Thank you. Thanks, Phil.
