West Sussex technology group GB Electronics opens fourth site, adding testing to its design and manufacturing operation

00:00I'm pleased to welcome you today to the grand opening of our new specialist EMC testing company,

00:05called GVMatek UK Limited. See the logo up there? Looks very smart, doesn't it?

00:14This is an exciting milestone in the growth of the GV technology group.

00:19It's going to play an essential role in our business vision and our strategy to design,

00:24manufacture and support technology solutions for our customers. So this is a really important

00:29part of that business journey, part of that mission. So every electronic product requires

00:34electromagnetic testing, both in design and production stages, so therefore this is an

00:39incredibly important part in our group strategy of designing and manufacturing products.

00:45Over the last 20 years we've worked with PETA, with this METEC company, and they've been a key

00:49partner in our business, in the growth of our business, and we're delighted to have the

00:55opportunity to take the baton forwards. I know PETA's been instrumental in teaching and inspiring

01:01our team in all aspects of testing and compliance, especially the new GVMatek ND, Matthew Wilson,

01:07who's been with the company for 20-odd years now. This growth in GV group represents our further

01:12investment in the local area. More jobs, we're currently 73. They're not all here, but I'm just

01:17saying, always amazing. When I go around say hello to everybody, because we're on four sites, you

01:21never quite realise how many people there are. So it's our current investment, and it will help

01:26with our vision of making GBE a significant technology company in Sussex. We had a recent

01:31visit from the Department of Business and Trade, and they recognised our strategy in advanced

01:35manufacturing, life sciences, software, and IoT product development. So that's a great kudos for

01:41us, and we want to carry that momentum forwards. It also helped continue to build our

01:47relationship with local education providers, inspiring the next generation to work in

01:52technology, and showing that the coastal region in Sussex is an amazing place for this. It's great

01:58to be here, to see the new facility in the town, to see that it's a thriving business, and to

02:07see that happening locally is always wonderful. And I would just like to congratulate everybody

02:14here, really, on being able to be a part of that, and to come together.

02:31I think this business is incredibly exciting, and I've been here three times now. I feel like part

02:37of the group actually, it's quite weird, but what a fantastic bit of enterprise down on the south

02:43coast. My concern from Arran District Council is we try and support you and help you to actually

02:49keep expanding, because this could be a real thriving business. It already is, isn't it?

02:55Very impressed by Mark, and everything. All the workers here, so let's enjoy it.

03:02Obviously, I appreciate we are across the border here in Arran, but we do have the worthy

03:09people. Great to see this expansion. I've known Mark for many years now, a long time, and

03:22over in the corner, we brought that one, and great to see the expansion here as well.
