00:00Burugudoy's Tonstugudon Stoy, ang paroke ni Edgar musical, finally hit the theater stage last April 26,
00:06and fans are excited more than ever.
00:08To celebrate the initial success of the musical, Newport World Resorts hosted a gala night,
00:13attended by paroke ni Edgar and the creatives of Burugudoy's Tonstugudon Stoy.
00:17The musical's associate director, named as the first lady of the Philippine Musical Theater,
00:22Menchulowchenko Yulo, talked about the show and the plans of Newport World Resort about OPM Musical.
00:28Find out more about this on Kapuso Insider.
00:38Do you love paroke ni Edgar but have second thoughts about musicals?
00:42Menchulowchenko Yulo explains why you should give Burugudoy's Tonstugudon Stoy a shot.
00:47They are going to love it. Particularly for the fans, I think they will understand the show the most
00:52because we have a lot of little Easter eggs that only the fans will count.
00:57So when we hear the reaction, like when we reveal an Easter egg,
01:01you can hear the reaction. Not everybody reacts, but the fans react.
01:05So we know that they understand it.
01:07It's a fun show. It's a crazy show.
01:10It's full of, it's a visual delight.
01:14And it's light and funny and it deals with everyday problems.
01:18So anybody can relate to it.
01:20It's dealing with problems in an absurd way.
01:23So that's the opinion of the show.
01:26Here's how the First Lady of Philippine Musical Theater described Burugudoy's Tonstugudon Stoy in one word.
01:31Wild. Wild.
01:33Everything about it, the preface is that when we started the project and we listened to all their songs,
01:40we knew that it could not be an ordinary story.
01:44It had to be as crazy as the van there.
01:47And so that's what we had in mind.
01:49So when we created the story, it had to be a wild telling of something that is still real.
01:56So we had to twist it in such a way that people can still relate to it.
02:01But it was told in a very, it was told in a very cheap, absurd way.
02:05So it's told in that way.
02:07So it's very like Jumanji beats Wizard of Oz.
02:10You know, it's all of that together.
02:13Now that the Philippines have witnessed musicals starting Eraserheads and Paroke Ni Edgar,
02:18are there plans to feature OPM bands for a musical in the future?
02:22Yes, we have several in the works.
02:24I thought that they were yet to be revealed yet,
02:27but we do have a lot of other jukebox musicals in the works.
02:31House, probably.
02:33We already have one veering up for next year.
02:36So April of 2025 is the moment.
02:39Puro gito yung sungstu gudunstuy,
02:41Ang Paroke Ni Edgar musical will run until June 2024 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
