00:00 So this is our 10 year anniversary street party.
00:04 So we first had an event like this 10 years ago.
00:08 Loved by everybody so we thought we'd do it again.
00:11 And you know, here we are and it's turned out to be a lovely day and we've got so many people.
00:16 So we're all having a brilliant time.
00:18 Could you tell me a little bit about your friends here?
00:20 Oh these two? Oh okay.
00:23 Well, I'm going to be doing a show in a bit and we have here Captain Jack Marrow.
00:29 Some of you may recognise him.
00:31 It's not a marrow, I know that, it's a courgette because it's seasonal and the marrow's on our year.
00:35 Anyway, here we have Will Turnip.
00:37 He's a bit wobbly. He's already been to the bar and I've got a host of other characters.
00:44 And hopefully people are going to make vegetable creatures with me at some point today.
00:49 Or just look at them and be glad they don't live near me, probably.
00:54 I've lived here since '99.
00:57 Really friendly people.
01:00 Obviously, not everyone wants to hang out.
01:02 Like I say, during lockdown, well it saved my life, having people to hang out with nearby.
01:07 Lovely round, I would say.
01:09 It's all about getting people to know their neighbours.
01:13 I've met people I've lived on the road for many years but people I've never spoken to before.
01:19 So it's getting people together. We've got some boards about history of Providence Road.
01:24 So finding out about the background. It's a very interesting area.
01:28 As you can hear, we've got music going. We've got children playing.
01:32 And because the street is closed, the kids can run up and down and ride up and down on their bikes and scooters.
01:38 It's just a lovely event to bring everybody together and enjoy the sunshine on a lovely sunny Sunday.
