00:32:54 - Ladies and gentlemen, we're here back in the staging area, the team area with Team
00:33:00 Belgium Cycling. We always like to have a word with these guys and girls, some of the
00:33:04 top riders in the world, some of the fastest and based out of Europe, pretty much
00:33:08 turning up at every single European round. We're here with Niels Appelmont first.
00:33:13 Niels, how's it going?
00:33:14 - I'm great, thank you.
00:33:16 - And you've been to Verona before. Have you ever raced this track before?
00:33:20 - Yeah, last year it was the junior competition here. It was not good, so
00:33:24 hopefully doing this year better.
00:33:26 - Okay, but you have been in some form recently. I noticed out on the track, we
00:33:30 were just talking to your colleagues there about you finding a bit of form. How's
00:33:33 that coming? You've had a few podiums, right?
00:33:36 - Yeah, I had a win in Zolder at the European Cup, and now at the World
00:33:39 Championship, was my best result. I came second, so now I want to keep the good
00:33:43 form and maybe ride another podium here.
00:33:46 - Okay, so world number two. And what class do you ride?
00:33:49 - Junior men.
00:33:50 - Junior men, okay, good stuff. Well, good luck this weekend, Niels. We hope to
00:33:53 see you on that podium, and maybe even the top step European champion, eh? That's
00:33:57 what it's all about. Okay, Akko Gommers, how are you?
00:34:01 - I'm good, and you?
00:34:02 - I'm good. She's always very shy, this one, but don't worry. She's used to this.
00:34:06 I've interviewed her many times, and she's always... Niels just walked off. He's not
00:34:10 even in the shot anymore. He's just walked off. How are you finding the track here at
00:34:14 Verona? It's quite a tough one, right?
00:34:16 - Yeah, I came here earlier this year to train, but I like it. The third straight is
00:34:21 not easy anymore, but I like difficult tracks, so we'll be fine.
00:34:26 - Yeah, so you don't mind the changes that they've made?
00:34:28 - No.
00:34:29 - Okay, good stuff. And a couple of people will mention the surface, quite stony,
00:34:33 but is it okay?
00:34:34 - Yeah, I noticed it as well, but hopefully with the rain, the surface will be good,
00:34:40 but we will see.
00:34:41 - Yeah, I think on Saturday when you guys and girls are racing, it's going to be nice
00:34:45 and sunny, 25 degrees. It's going to rain all day tomorrow, so don't worry. Okay, listen,
00:34:51 what age group are you racing?
00:34:52 - Under 23.
00:34:53 - Under 23. And your twin sister, where is she these days?
00:34:56 - She's also coming now.
00:34:58 - Okay, she's racing?
00:34:59 - Yeah.
00:35:00 - Okay, but she's not on the team, Belgian team, right?
00:35:03 - No.
00:35:04 - The national team?
00:35:05 - No.
00:35:06 - So how does that go down in your household?
00:35:07 - Yeah, I don't know. She doesn't like it, but that's life.
00:35:12 - Okay, fair enough. Didn't she beat you in a world championships though once?
00:35:17 - In 2019.
00:35:19 - Yeah, at Zolder, right, your home track.
00:35:21 - That's five years ago.
00:35:23 - Yeah, that's still a world championship.
00:35:25 - Things have changed.
00:35:27 - Okay, that's fair enough. Good one, I like that. Elke Van Hoof here from Team Belgium,
00:35:32 elite woman rider. Now listen, you've been on the scene for many years now, still riding
00:35:36 because you do have a possibility of going to the Olympics this year, is that right?
00:35:39 - Yeah, we have.
00:35:40 - And do you reckon it will be you? Do you think they'll send our under 23 lady here?
00:35:45 - Yeah, we will know after this weekend.
00:35:47 - Okay, so is there a bit of a battle between you two for the final Olympic spot?
00:35:51 - Yeah, actually, yeah.
00:35:53 - Okay, and how is it all going in the camp? There's a bit of space between you.
00:35:58 - No, I think we're doing fine.
00:36:01 - And how old are you now, Elke?
00:36:03 - Do I need to say that?
00:36:05 - Yes.
00:36:06 - Well, I'm 32. I'm getting 33 in December, but that's like another year or so.
00:36:11 - So still young and you are?
00:36:13 - 20.
00:36:15 - 20? Just 20 years old. So 12 years, that's the point I'm trying to make here. 12 years
00:36:20 between them. So no, no, no, it's a good thing. BMX, we know there's older riders that ride
00:36:27 their silly wheels with the bigger capacity, you know, 24 inch. It doesn't count cruisers,
00:36:32 we know that. But what I'm saying is you've got a long BMX career. You're only 20, very
00:36:37 young, even though your sister beat you in 2019. 12 years ahead and still you could ride
00:36:42 for some more, yeah?
00:36:43 - Yeah, sure.
00:36:44 - Why not?
00:36:45 - If you see Elly's and yours.
00:36:47 - Exactly. So, well, good luck this weekend to both of you. Hope it all goes well. Ruben
00:36:52 Gommers, here he is, your 2023 European Cup champion.
00:36:59 - Yep.
00:37:00 - I'm correct, right?
00:37:01 - Yeah.
00:37:02 - Okay, good stuff. How's it going for you this last couple of months?
00:37:06 - A bit rough. I didn't have the results that I wanted, especially on the World Cups and
00:37:12 on the World Championships. But the Euro Cups have been fine this year as well. It's just,
00:37:17 yeah, the big races, I'm joking a bit at the moment.
00:37:20 - Okay. Yeah, you had a lot of form last year, definitely deserve that title, 100%. And we've
00:37:25 always wanted to see you do well because you are one of our, we like to say, one of our
00:37:29 favorite riders out there. You're one of the good guys, let's put it that way. But you've
00:37:32 got a lot of young guns coming up behind you here now, trying to move up. One is next to
00:37:36 you. He's had a bit of a sort of rise and dip in form, but it looks like he's coming
00:37:40 back strong again, right?
00:37:41 - Yeah. I think last year it was, I think you struggled a bit.
00:37:45 - Yeah.
00:37:46 - But yeah, since, like after Australia, I used to get better and better. So yeah, I
00:37:51 feel him coming.
00:37:52 - Yeah, because of course, one is you're back in elite class now. So this is one is Magdalen's
00:37:56 everyone. He's also Team Belgium. He's in elite. How's it going for you coming back
00:38:01 into elite again?
00:38:02 - Good. It's my second year now. Second year as elite. Riding better now, feeling more
00:38:08 confident than last year and trying to get in my rhythm to get better results.
00:38:14 - Yeah. You guys both got the skills to pay the bills. That is for sure. What about in
00:38:18 the gym? Who's lifting more on the weights?
00:38:20 - I have no idea. I don't think we ever did the gym session together.
00:38:23 - Is there some rivalry here?
00:38:26 - I think. We have never, like even on long trips and stuff, it's always like we have
00:38:34 different gym sessions. He trains with different trainers. So yeah.
00:38:39 - All right. Good stuff. Good stuff. Well, these guys are both in elite category. Now
00:38:43 there is a slim chance that maybe one of you could go to the Olympics. I think, I'm not
00:38:49 sure how it works. I did read something the other day. It's something, I call it the path
00:38:54 finder, right?
00:38:55 - At the moment, we're still in tenth. So at place ten, you're still fine for one spot.
00:39:01 But Germany is closing 11 and I think they have the weird one that you just mentioned.
00:39:06 So I think we're still safe, but yeah, we still have to race this one good to make sure
00:39:10 that we can go.
00:39:11 - Okay. Well, listen, good luck you two guys this weekend, third elite and hopefully we
00:39:16 see maybe one or two of you in Paris at the Olympics. Jorgi, how's it going? You all right?
00:39:20 - Good. Yeah, for sure.
00:39:22 - Which age group are you racing now? Under 23?
00:39:25 - No, no, no. Junior.
00:39:26 - Oh, junior. He's still only a junior, this lad. I thought he was a lot older than that.
00:39:30 Seriously, I thought he was a lot older than that.
00:39:32 - No, no, no. Just second year junior.
00:39:34 - Oh, second year junior. Okay. So last year junior, this is second year. How's it going
00:39:39 for you then in junior men category? That is quite a tough category.
00:39:42 - Yeah, it is a really tough category, but my riding is good, but the results just haven't
00:39:48 been there yet.
00:39:49 - Okay. Well, I don't know. I think last year I do remember you getting some good results
00:39:53 at the start of the year. Did you get a good result in Zolder? No?
00:39:57 - Last year I crashed in Zolder, I think. But the European Championships in Besançon,
00:40:02 I was sixth, so that was good.
00:40:04 - Okay. So you made the final. So another final this weekend in the European Championships
00:40:08 should be good, right?
00:40:09 - Yeah.
00:40:10 - Okay. Good stuff. I remember you when you were about this big. So you've certainly grown
00:40:14 up now. You're about the same height as me now.
00:40:16 - Yeah, yeah. That's better than... Excuse me.
00:40:20 - No, it's all good. So listen, good luck this weekend. I hope you do well. See you
00:40:24 in that final of the junior men. And who have we got here? One last guy has joined the fray.
00:40:30 What's your name?
00:40:31 - Laureys Jumois.
00:40:32 - Ah, Laureys Jumois. That's more French than Belgian, right?
00:40:34 - Yeah. All right. Yeah.
00:40:35 - Okay. And where's the French side come from? Mum or dad?
00:40:38 - Mum.
00:40:39 - Oh, mum. Okay.
00:40:40 - Both.
00:40:41 - Both. Okay. Cool. And whereabouts do you live then in Belgium, if you don't mind me
00:40:44 asking?
00:40:45 - I come from Bleuk in Belgium. Bleuk, yeah. And it's a French part of Belgium.
00:40:49 - Ah, okay.
00:40:50 - Like already three, but two big parts, French and Flemish.
00:40:54 - Yeah. Like Blenny. It's like the Blenny sort of type. Yeah. Okay. Good stuff. And what
00:40:58 age group do you race?
00:40:59 - I ride in junior men.
00:41:01 - Okay. With Jorgi?
00:41:02 - Yeah.
00:41:03 - Okay. And how's your results been this year?
00:41:04 - I did second in Zolder.
00:41:06 - Yeah.
00:41:07 - And I did also four in Sariens.
00:41:10 - Okay.
00:41:11 - And final four also in Benadky.
00:41:13 - Okay. What about the worlds?
00:41:14 - I fucked up my worlds. I crashed in the quarterfinal when I was second.
00:41:18 - Sorry about the language there.
00:41:19 - Yeah.
00:41:20 - Okay.
00:41:21 - So where did you end up? Sorry. Which race was that?
00:41:23 - You crashed?
00:41:24 - In Rock Hill.
00:41:25 - Yeah. In the final?
00:41:26 - No, in the quarterfinal.
00:41:27 - Oh, quarterfinal. I see. Okay.
00:41:28 - I crashed.
00:41:29 - Okay. Not so good then.
00:41:30 - No, but I take my revenge here.
00:41:32 - Yeah.
00:41:33 - Yeah.
00:41:34 - Yeah. Well, I hope so. Listen, good luck this weekend. It's good to chat to all the Team Belgium riders.
00:41:38 Good to see some of the younger riders coming through. I hope you have a good weekend.
00:41:41 - Yeah. Thank you very much.
00:41:42 - Okay. No worries. That was Team Belgium, ladies and gentlemen, in the team area here. We'll catch you back at the track. Let's watch some more racing.
00:41:48 All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are here in the team area again with our, my good friend, Jason Nordum.
00:41:56 Jason "The Cricket" Nordum. We nicknamed him that for when he was very small and he had very spinny, sticky legs, as it were.
00:42:03 So, but they used to spin really fast. And we've got his little brother now, Brian, out there riding. We called him "The Little Cricket".
00:42:08 But "The Cricket", Jason Nordum, men under 23. Listen, you've had some great successes over the years.
00:42:14 I've seen you grow up from that little tiny boy into what you are now. A great man on the track. You're getting some great starts and stuff.
00:42:20 How are you feeling coming into this weekend? Third at the World Championships, but men under 23. How do you feel this weekend?
00:42:27 - I'm feeling quite okay. I had some days off for the crash I had in the Worlds. So, I try to be as best as possible.
00:42:36 And yeah, the training was going very good. So, I'm looking forward to the race.
00:42:42 - Okay. Good stuff. And is a lot of your competition here that would be normally in the men under 23?
00:42:48 - Yeah. There's a big competition group here. - Okay. So, it's going to be... I mean, some of the elite riders might not be here because Olympic points have been decided.
00:42:55 We just did a big interview there about Team GB. But for you guys, men under 23, titles to be won, right?
00:43:01 - Yeah. It will be a tough racing this weekend. - Yeah. Okay. And how do you think it's going to all pan out for the Olympics?
00:43:09 The guys, obviously, I guess they're already going to send the elite guys, right? They won't send an under 23 rider?
00:43:14 - No. They won't send an under 23 rider. - Okay. No worries. But it's all good then. So, listen. How are you finding the track here?
00:43:21 They've made a few changes. What's your record? You've just finished your training session.
00:43:25 - Yeah. It's difficult. It's better than last year. But you need to feel the rhythm. - Yeah.
00:43:32 - And the timing will be more different than usual. - Yeah. And the third straight looks a bit more tricky. But is it?
00:43:38 - No. It's fine. - It's okay. Okay. Good stuff. - Well, look. Good luck this weekend. Hopefully, see you on top of that podium.
00:43:44 - Thank you. I will try my best. - Okay. Nice one. That's Jason Norton. The Cricket. Hopefully, we'll see him on that podium this weekend.
00:43:50 - Cheers, mate. Nice one. Yeah. Thanks very much. Good luck. - Yeah. Thank you. No problem.

00:46:24 Okay, ladies and gentlemen, you catch us back here in the team area.
00:46:36 We're here with Team GB and we've got three riders in the elite category here.
00:46:41 Ross Cullen, Cullen Isidor and Kyle White.
00:46:44 We're backstage with these three guys. This weekend is kind of important for them
00:46:48 as most of the GB fans back at home and maybe some of the Americans watching
00:46:52 might well know that, you know, there are points on the line here
00:46:56 to send one or two of these guys to the Olympics in Paris later on in August this year.
00:47:01 So guys, how's it all going? Kyle White, you started to find a little bit of form,
00:47:06 although some may say that you had a bit of a lucky ride in the world champs
00:47:10 in some of those qualifiers. But, you know, it's good to make a final at the end of the day.
00:47:15 How are you feeling coming into this weekend to bring up some points for the GB lads?
00:47:20 I feel decent. I'm here to be part of the team and hopefully get more points for the team
00:47:28 and see what we can do. But yeah, I feel good.
00:47:32 And was you happy with your performance in the world? I mean, I guess you always want more, right?
00:47:36 No, of course I want more, but at that time I wasn't feeling my best.
00:47:40 I wasn't riding my best. I hear excuses, but I did get lucky.
00:47:45 So I'll take it and hopefully move on to it.
00:47:48 Still don't want to ride a longer frame, no? No, my frame is long enough.
00:47:51 Perfect lap bike. GT best bike ever.
00:47:54 OK, well done Kyle. That was a world finalist, world number eight.
00:47:57 Move on here to Quillen Isidor. Quillen, how's it going for you?
00:48:00 Yeah, no, good, in good form. My results definitely haven't shown it as of recent.
00:48:08 So hoping that can change this weekend. Obviously, it's an important weekend for us.
00:48:13 But yeah, yeah, going all good. Looking forward to racing.
00:48:16 OK, yeah, I mean, you had a great end to the end of last season, you know, in Argentina,
00:48:20 a couple of podiums and everything else. And we started this year really early in Australia and New Zealand.
00:48:25 Do you think the early start to the season might have hampered your form?
00:48:28 Or do you just think you've just been a little bit unlucky or haven't just managed to just put it together?
00:48:33 No, I think training was going really well, but I had a couple of crashes, two crashes in training
00:48:37 that maybe affected about a month of my preparation.
00:48:40 And then I took a gamble at the start of the year with a few things, set ups on my bike,
00:48:45 and it didn't really pay off. So I was constantly stopping and changing.
00:48:49 I think I have actually raced really well, but I think I've just been on the unfortunate side quite a lot of the times.
00:48:55 And so I've been able to walk away from some of the weekends with like,
00:48:58 I've done the best I could, I actually performed well, but circumstances with BMX as a sport,
00:49:04 it's just got in my way. And yeah, I think as of recent, it's been a struggle,
00:49:09 like not making any finals, not even semis and stuff. So yeah, I think I just need to put that behind me.
00:49:15 It's done now. And I think I make a good weekend, have a good weekend on Saturday,
00:49:20 good race on Saturday and I won't give a damn.
00:49:22 Well, the weather is supposed to be really good on Saturday, 25 degrees, bright sunshine is what I'm seeing on the Weather Channel.
00:49:28 Not tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be a washout. But yes, Saturday is looking good for the championship.
00:49:34 So let's hope it all works out for you guys.
00:49:36 Ross Cullen, one of the younger crew now in the camp, as it were.
00:49:41 And Quillen, you're probably one of the older ones, right?
00:49:43 I'm 28 this year.
00:49:45 28, yeah. OK, so we're missing Paddy this weekend. So if he's watching this,
00:49:49 good luck with Paddy in your next direction, wherever you're going.
00:49:53 But Ross, how's it going for you guys?
00:49:55 Yeah, all good. Similar to Quillen, I mean, started off the year really good, woke up podium.
00:50:02 Yeah, and just ever since, America didn't treat me well, shall I say.
00:50:04 The three races we did out there, I really couldn't find myself, find my form.
00:50:08 But I've had some good memories here in Italy before.
00:50:12 Shared a podium with Kai last year and just excited to get fired up and race.
00:50:16 And hopefully it stays dry because every race we've had this year, it's rained at some point.
00:50:20 So hopefully it will stay dry.
00:50:22 Yeah, the weather's been pretty shocking everywhere, let's be honest.
00:50:25 Have you ridden this track? Did you ride this track yesterday, guys?
00:50:28 No, no, this is our first time since last year.
00:50:30 So we've never ridden from the Berm jump onwards. We haven't ridden this.
00:50:34 They've changed the third straight a little bit.
00:50:36 It looks quite technical, but you guys are all right with that, right?
00:50:39 Yeah, I mean, I'd like to think we're all quite good on our bikes technically.
00:50:42 And I think this track will show the technical riders to the knot.
00:50:45 So hopefully we're on the upper side of that.
00:50:48 And we know, I think from memory, something like a couple of semifinals and a final this weekend
00:50:54 could be enough, right, to get the two places for the Olympics?
00:50:57 Yeah, so I think, yeah, a final.
00:51:02 There's like a million different scenarios in that.
00:51:06 But if we just do our job and get ourselves in the final, that will take care of it.
00:51:10 And like, what was it, Nashville last weekend racing,
00:51:13 and I scored points to cancel out the American scoring.
00:51:17 So that was good. But we hope to do a bit better.
00:51:20 Whereas like, Kai didn't want to come to the race, but after Nashville,
00:51:25 I get Kai on the phone straight away like, "Yo, need you here, man, need you here."
00:51:29 So yeah, hopefully two semis in the final, I think should do it.
00:51:33 So I know the Americans are going to be preying on our downfall,
00:51:36 but you know, we just go do what we can do and have fun while doing it and let it be.
00:51:43 Obviously we'd like a first, second and third, not just two semis and a final.
00:51:47 Listen, we've seen that before, right? Was it Zolder?
00:51:50 It was Zolder as well. We called it. I mean, we called it in Sarians as well.
00:51:55 That was another weather track where the weather was crap.
00:51:57 Yeah, that was the only reason. Like, yeah, it just didn't affect Kai, it just affected everyone else.
00:52:02 I remember Kai and Zolder one year, I don't know what year it was, a few years ago now,
00:52:05 coming from like eighth to like second to qualify, like a semi or something.
00:52:09 That was when your starts were really bad. I mean, they're still bad, but...
00:52:13 Oh, what? No, my starts haven't improved in a lot, it's just I'm a bit slow right now.
00:52:18 A few crashes this year, so...
00:52:20 Don't talk now.
00:52:21 Yeah.
00:52:22 I'm only joking about your starts. But they were shocking a few years ago.
00:52:25 They are a lot better now.
00:52:26 It was. It was. Hit and miss, hit and miss. But yeah, no, they're better now.
00:52:29 It's just I'm not in the right form right now, but I don't need to be, so...
00:52:33 Now, listen, we do interview the girls sometimes,
00:52:35 and I've got to say, some of the girls are really coming on strong now,
00:52:38 Emily, Sienna Harvey, you know, made the final out in Rock Hill and that.
00:52:42 These girls, do they look up to you? Do they come to you for advice?
00:52:45 Or do they just do their own thing?
00:52:47 No, some of them are cheeky, but got a bit of attitude.
00:52:50 But no, I think Emily's great.
00:52:53 We all take her under our wing and give her some advice.
00:52:57 And just like whenever anyone's riding on our sessions,
00:53:00 we always look to give people advice.
00:53:03 And like, yes, Sienna, she's done really well.
00:53:05 It was early, like early this year where she couldn't even do four pedals down the hill.
00:53:09 She always missed the pedal.
00:53:10 So it was always like us giving her a bit of advice to overcome that.
00:53:13 And yeah, now she's made a world final.
00:53:15 And yeah, you've got people like Freya, I think,
00:53:18 but Emily, you just kind of like let them be because they're something of a talent
00:53:22 and they'll learn on themselves as well.
00:53:24 Yeah, loads of young ones coming through, like.
00:53:26 Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
00:53:27 Well, you've got Freya, you've got Elsa.
00:53:30 Yeah, so all those young girls, even further down the age groups in like the 12, 13s.
00:53:36 It's good to see. So listen, guys, good luck this weekend.
00:53:38 Hopefully you do the business for Team GB, but I'm being really biased.
00:53:42 At the end of the day, relax, catch some backside.
00:53:45 Yeah, man. All the backside.
00:53:47 Sounds good.
00:53:49 Yeah, we'll end on that one.
00:53:50 Neil Stewart in the team area with Team GB.
00:53:52 Two places up for grabs in the Olympics in Paris.
00:53:55 Let's hope the boys do the business.

00:59:05 I don't know.
00:59:07 It looks like, well here it is if you can see it.
00:59:10 But anyway, it's got like a little sign on it,
00:59:12 maybe like the Maserati sign.
00:59:15 A small bracelet.
00:59:17 But it's not Marriott's because we just spoke to her mum.
00:59:22 So if you've lost your bracelet, come and find us.

01:04:25 Ladies and gentlemen, we are here trackside now with two of the Italian coaches here.
01:04:31 Italy have got a really big BMX team.
01:04:34 They're doing really well.
01:04:35 They've really stepped it up over the last few years.
01:04:37 You may have seen us saying this in some of the previous interviews,
01:04:40 but we are here with Mattia and Tommaso from Team Italy.
01:04:44 Listen, Mattia, what's it like to be here in Italy at a European Championships
01:04:49 racing in your home country, apart from not very much travel?
01:04:53 I mean, that's the main thing.
01:04:55 Okay, we're going to start with our time trial already.
01:04:59 Like a big race like this one.
01:05:02 It's not in, so we're going to start with our--
01:05:04 It's actually really good.
01:05:05 And then for the BMX scene in Italy, like having this kind of event help.
01:05:11 I mean, yeah, the elites, juniors, they actually can race on a track they know better.
01:05:18 Especially for the kids, they actually get to see their idols
01:05:22 and get to know their level compared to the European level as well.
01:05:28 Yeah, of course, that's really important.
01:05:29 I think we've seen it certainly in the UK.
01:05:32 Our riders have come along and been idols,
01:05:34 and now we're seeing a lot of the younger age groups filling up,
01:05:37 and you're getting more and more riders in those younger age groups
01:05:40 stepping into BMX as a sport.
01:05:42 So it can only be good for them, right?
01:05:44 Yeah, I mean, as I said, for me as well, when I was a kid,
01:05:49 I was lucky that my parents took me all over Europe and all over the world as well.
01:05:55 And that helped me as a rider and as a person as well.
01:05:58 You get to know people from--
01:06:00 Okay, the start list of Germany, we have Jan-Anton Schaakops-Krispeck,
01:06:09 we have Stephen Heil and Philipp Schout.
01:06:12 Let's go, boys.
01:06:40 Okay, ladies and gentlemen, Germany on the track,
01:06:42 and we have two elite riders, Philipp Schout and Stephen Heil.
01:06:44 Jan-Anton Schaakops-Krispeck, he is racing in the junior man category,
01:06:49 but here they come, and they are--
01:06:51 Oh!
01:06:53 Someone went down there in the first turn, and they are--
01:06:56 It was Jan-Anton Schaakops-Krispeck who slides out of the turn
01:07:01 and out in the time trial.
01:07:06 It was pretty fast. They were pretty fast.
01:07:08 Heil and Schout, they are still on the feet.
01:07:13 It's Jan-Anton Schaakops-Krispeck who missed the turn, slipped in the first turn.
01:07:21 So you can see it on the big screen.
01:07:23 Yeah, so ladies and gentlemen, just to let you know what the time trial is all about,
01:07:31 there is a European Championship jersey up for grabs here for the team.
01:07:36 Ladies and gentlemen, please.
01:07:38 Yeah, the third year that we're running the European Championship jersey.
01:07:50 The time trial, a team of three riders gives themselves a round of applause there
01:07:55 for getting up, Schaakops-Krispeck.
01:07:57 It's all about the fastest time for the third rider across the line,
01:08:01 so they are riding as a team.
01:08:04 It's not the first rider across the line, it is the third rider across the line,
01:08:09 where the time will count and obviously the fastest time possible.
01:08:12 (Italian)
01:08:41 (applause)
01:09:05 (ambient noise)
01:09:22 (Italian)
01:09:34 (applause)
01:09:58 (ambient noise)
01:10:16 Okay, Belgium, we are starting with Belgium.
01:10:20 Pour la Belgique, Loris Jauvoy.
01:10:23 (applause)
01:10:24 Jorgie Picard and number two of the world, Niels Appermond.
01:10:29 The youngest team on the gate today, the time trial.
01:10:33 (ambient noise)
01:10:47 Here we go, all junior men on track and it's looking good for the 9.06.
01:10:50 He took the number one position here in the curve and they are really close to each other.
01:10:55 They are going to be the fastest time here.
01:10:58 The third time is counting, so they are all close to each other.
01:11:01 Is the time fast? At the time of Bartagnoli, we will check it out on the finish line, ladies and gentlemen.
01:11:07 It's going until the finish, of course.
01:11:09 It's Loris Jauvoy, still in the lead of the race.
01:11:13 All close to each other, all the Belgian riders next to each other.
01:11:16 Last way, and they are going for the run. Belgium, where are you, where are you, riders?
01:11:21 Yeah, and what's to the time?
01:11:25 (ambient noise)
01:11:30 Okay, we can do a check up on the time.
01:11:35 All righty, then we are just going to wait for confirmation of the times before we go into the next run there.
01:11:40 Looks like a good performance from the Belgians, though. They were a lot closer together, as you saw.
01:11:46 Coming around the track, slipstreaming each other.
01:11:50 Obviously, we'd love to get a home win for the Italians, especially on Republic Day, but we move on to the next team on track.
01:12:01 And that is, of course, Holland. The Netherlands, Jace Gippers, Julian Vijsterbosch, and the cricket, Jason Nortum.
01:12:13 Netherlands, Team Tantra.
01:12:16 (ambient noise)
01:12:27 Riders really watch the game, who's got it to take it to the wire there. It's all about the third place at the moment.
01:12:33 We're looking at Vijsterbosch and Gippers. Nortum leads the team out, and he's got the fastest start at the moment.
01:12:40 But Julian Vijsterbosch, former world champion, back in knots. He's in the mix there with the 2.42 now.
01:12:47 And Gippers at the back of the pack, but he's no slouch on the bike.
01:12:51 Looking good here, Mabo bikes all together into the last turn. The Dutchies looking good.
01:12:57 Here comes Gippers, he's going to pass the other Dutchie on. The left-hander, oh!
01:13:02 Bobbled on the last straightaway. That might have just cost him.
