Transcript
00:00One of the best things about living in a vibrant city like Liverpool is the new openings.
00:05Whether it be shops, bars or restaurants, there always seems to be somewhere new to explore.
00:10However, when one door opens, sadly, another often has to close.
00:15Where are the places you miss most in Merseyside?
00:18Well, we had up London Road with Nanex. We were talking about clothes,
00:22good dresses in Nanex. That was lovely. They had lovely dresses.
00:26I feel everyone in Liverpool would agree with me versus with this one.
00:30St John's Markers had some great deals. I used to buy my caps from their designer caps.
00:35I just went up one day and I was absolutely shocked.
00:39Great Sea Market. The original Great Sea Market.
00:44Me mum used to take me down here when I was a kid.
00:49Now it's a new place down here and it's not the same.
00:54Do miss the Disney store like that. My mate over there, he's a big Disney fan,
01:00like Lion King and everything like that. So I know you definitely miss things like that.
01:06The big TJ users up London Road.
01:11Been here 140 years, 120 years and now it's a little place around the corner.
01:18I miss all them places and that's where I used to go to.
01:21George Henry Lees. That was lovely.
01:25The one in Liverpool 1 is not bad now. John Lewis.
01:30At the end of the day, it's a shame that it's gone, but it gives room for something new,
01:35doesn't it?
01:36Used to be all the pubs down Scotty Road.
01:39All gone now and miss all them because all the pubs are dying out.
01:44The latest data for Liverpool shows that in March 2024,
01:47monthly retail sales were £76.8 million.
01:51Compared to the same month last year, sales were up by 3.4%.
01:54The increase in monthly sales were due to an increase of 11.4% in customer numbers.
