00:00What's the background?
00:02It's kind of like a diamond.
00:04The next door is like a big tree.
00:06Something inside a school.
00:08I don't know.
00:10Whatever.
00:12I don't know.
00:14I don't know.
00:16I don't know.
00:18I don't know.
00:20I don't know.
00:22What?
00:24I don't know.
00:26What's inside?
00:28So my name is Sam Ferry, I'm here today with Thistle Nurseries, we're based on Irby Road
00:34and as you can see we have a wide range of garden centre goods, outdoor flowers, house
00:40plants.
00:41We're a small business but growing and trying to just expand our customer base and the market
00:47here is a brilliant way to do that.
00:48We've been meeting so many people and getting to chat to so many different other business
00:51owners.
00:52And how important is a market like this for a small business like yourself?
00:56I think it's essential, we're out on the Irby Road and so depending on footfall, word of
01:02mouth, having signs up.
01:04But this way people are coming along who might not have walked that way but seeing what we
01:07have to offer and multiple people saying, oh yeah we'll come out and see us.
01:10So hopefully some of them will now.
01:56So my name's Anya and I own Rose and Rose by Anya.
02:05I started crocheting during lockdown so it was just a way to spend a bit of time doing
02:10something other than spending it on my phone and have a wee hobby on the side as well.
02:13And can you tell me how important a market like this is to small businesses like yourself?
02:18I think it's great because it's a chance to kind of showcase what you have.
02:21I was selling mainly on Instagram beforehand and not everybody has Instagram, it's obviously
02:24a big thing in this day and age but older people don't have it.
02:27And it's good to have, you get to socialise with other businesses, you get to meet other
02:31businesses and get inspiration from them too.
02:33And I think it's good for the local economy too because it's bringing people into our
02:36city centre to meet all these businesses and buy stuff from them too.
02:39So I just think it's a great idea.
02:54My name is Alicia Green and I am the owner of the Peg and Frog Bistro on Spencer Road.
03:23And can you tell me about what your business is?
03:26We were here last Christmas when they did the wee Christmas market so they asked us
03:31if we would come back this year and do it again and it's amazing, I love the whole atmosphere
03:35of it.
03:36And what is it you bring here?
03:37We bring food.
03:39So we bring our own homemade food from my chef, Ashley Mac, who I'm not going to take credit
03:43for because she makes it and today we have got lasagne, chicken curry, rice and jumbo
03:49hot dogs for anyone that wants some.
03:52How important do you think markets like this are for local businesses?
03:55Very, because it gets to showcase your whole food.
03:58I just had somebody come over and say that's the nicest lasagne I've had in years.
04:01This is where you based so when people don't know or don't know about you, these kind of
04:04showcase what you do.
04:21Thank you.
