00:00Those units that they earn by racking up wins, the ACC will have to distribute more in this
00:12settlement per school than the SEC would.
00:15And everybody watching this program knows that every SEC school earns more than the
00:20ACC does.
00:22And because the Big East had success with Villanova and UConn, that creates a situation
00:28where they're paying more than they should otherwise put the bill for.
00:31Did I summarize that well, Aaron?
00:34You did.
00:35And I wonder what would have happened if the parties didn't come together so quickly and
00:43enter into a settlement agreement that could effectively end the three cases that you mentioned.
00:48There was a motion for summary judgment, and technically still is, one pending in the House
00:54VNCAA case.
00:57And the fear was that an adverse opinion for the defendants could mean over $4 billion
01:04in damages.
01:05And it wouldn't necessarily be spread across 10 years of payments.
01:09And then in the other two cases, if there were adverse opinions, I heard rumors that
01:12it could have cost upwards of $20 billion, bankrupting the NCAA.
01:18But in such a situation, what would have been the effect on the Big East and the other conferences
01:22that were not named in those lawsuits?
01:25And that could be the biggest gripe that they have, which is, how could you decide
01:31this was in our best interest?
01:33What did you actually do to come to all of our member schools in these other conferences
01:39and get the consent that we may believe that you needed in order to effectively end these
01:46cases and enter into a settlement agreement that obligates us to make payment?
01:49I think it's a huge day.
01:53It's a magnanimous change to college sports if this goes through, but there are just still
01:58so many unanswered questions that we'll probably be talking about for at least a year to come.
