00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the 10 best games to check
00:13 out on Steam Deck for some gaming on the go.
00:25 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:30 the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:34 Hades
00:43 Hades might just be one of the best roguelites out there, one that offers incredibly engaging
00:47 action combat, swift traversal, bountiful upgrades, a beautiful and timeless art style,
00:52 and a fun epic narrative.
00:55 Hades are some of the best games to have on a handheld system given their pick up and
00:58 play nature, and of course, Hades is no different.
01:02 This is one of the games that can satiate a quick gameplay bite or it can eat up multiple
01:06 hours of your time.
01:07 Inspired by Greek mythology, you step into the shoes of Zagreus as he claws, slashes,
01:12 and dashes his way through the underworld in hopes of attaining freedom.
01:16 Chatting with other Greek gods, learning new powers and abilities from them, and mastering
01:20 each new run through the varied dungeons are just some of the highlights in Hades.
01:24 It's a real treat of a game that deserves your time and attention.
01:36 Resident Evil 4 Remake
01:46 If you want to discuss behemoths of the survival horror genre, then the RE4 remake is right
01:51 up there at the top.
01:53 Being able to enjoy Leon's harrowing adventure on the go is pretty darn special, especially
01:58 since this remake packs in the content so you always have something to do.
02:02 If for some reason you missed out on the OG 2005 version of Resident Evil 4, then you
02:07 need to hop into this souped up remake, since it does remain faithful to its roots while
02:12 still offering in just enough new things to make it feel fresh.
02:16 Now it's up to Leon to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, from the terrifying
02:20 grip of the Los Plagas infected villagers who are being controlled by the Los Illuminados,
02:25 a creepy cult that is clearly up to no good.
02:28 The RE4 remake is a deliciously intense and ominous game that will keep you glued to your
02:32 steam deck as you cower under the covers.
02:48 Hollow Knight
02:57 How crazy is it that the beloved indie hit Hollow Knight still manages to be part of
03:01 the gaming zeitgeist even after releasing way back in 2017?
03:05 Such is the power and presence of this dark, moody, and highly engrossing metroidvania
03:10 that sees you guide an armor-clad bug knight all throughout Hollow Nest.
03:14 Hollow Nest is brimming to the gills with creepy denizens who seek to send the knight
03:18 to his demise.
03:24 While it's true that Hollow Knight is the epitome of metroidvania greatness, it's
03:28 also a game that throws in its fair share of souls-like shenanigans in the form of the
03:32 meticulously designed and utterly challenging combat, especially when it comes to the game's
03:37 many many bosses.
03:39 Add in some tough platforming gauntlets, cryptic world design, esoteric themes, and unique
03:43 characters, and you have a game that is ready to sink its teeth into you should you be up
03:47 for the challenge.
03:48 Just make sure to save up your geo in order to become a bug force to be reckoned with.
04:01 Stardew Valley
04:11 Cozy life sim farming games and handheld gaming go perfectly hand in hand.
04:16 A true definition of a match made in heaven.
04:19 While the number of cozy farming games seems to increase each and every year, there's
04:23 one that acts as a pinnacle for the genre, a beacon for all others to look to.
04:27 Yeah, you guessed it, of course, it's Stardew Valley.
04:30 Solo dev Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, truly knocked it out of the park with this gem of
04:35 a game.
04:36 You can quite literally play Stardew for hundreds upon hundreds of hours, if not more, building
04:40 up the farm of your dreams, raising all manner of animals, befriending the locals of Pelican
04:45 Town, getting married and starting a family, battling buffoons with a variety of weapons,
04:50 and exploring the gorgeous world to your heart's content.
04:53 It's a purely wholesome and engaging game that can be enjoyed by yourself or with others
04:57 in multiplayer.
04:58 Stardew Valley is just one of those games that will stick in your heart and mind for
05:02 the long haul and will always put a big ol' smile on your face.
05:12 Hogwarts Legacy For us Harry Potter fans, Hogwarts Legacy
05:29 is a thing dreams are made of.
05:31 Sure, there have been countless Harry Potter games over the years to play, but none have
05:35 enchanted players in quite the same way as Hogwarts Legacy.
05:39 This game is just a cornucopia of magical, whimsical Harry Potter goodness, packed into
05:44 a robust open-world RPG where you play as a brand new fifth-year student at the renowned
05:49 school of witchcraft and wizardry.
05:51 While some of the RPG elements leave something to be desired, it's the way in which the
05:55 game just allows you to completely immerse yourself in its lovingly crafted world, especially
06:00 as you explore the likes of Hogwarts Castle, the Quidditch Pitch, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden
06:04 Forest, and so much more.
06:07 This is a game made by a team that loves the source material and sought to bring every
06:11 ounce of charm from both the books and the movies to life in video game form, and to
06:16 that end it unequivocally succeeds.
06:18 Its spell-based combat is flashy, frenetic, and fun.
06:21 The quests and story are a joy to engage with, the characters are well-written and interesting,
06:26 and the world is just a joy to behold, with something fun to do around every magical corner.
06:34 Dave the Diver
06:47 Apart from the Nintendo Switch, the Steam Deck truly is the place to be for indie games.
06:52 Enter Dave the Diver, an incredibly robust and unique indie game that is one part action
06:57 adventure, one part fishing, one part restaurant management, and all parts vibrant pixel-art
07:02 sushi-infused oceanic narrative adventure.
07:05 It's a game that packs in so many different elements that all work perfectly independently,
07:10 but come together cohesively to ensure you are hooked - yes, yes I know, pun very much
07:14 intended here - to its core gameplay loop.
07:17 You see, Dave, our eponymous portly diver, must quite literally make the catch of seafood
07:21 for the day in order to run his sushi restaurant by night and make delicious and delectable
07:26 meals that his customers will enjoy.
07:28 The loop of being able to go out on diving sessions for unique and varied fish, solve
07:32 puzzles to open up new areas to explore, find new means of fishing, and eventually use all
07:37 of your hard work from the day to grow and expand the sushi restaurant alongside Chef
07:42 Boncho ensures that you are always progressing.
07:45 Toss in some witty dialogue, charming characters, and an engaging overarching story, and you
07:49 are in for a good time with this one on Steam Deck.
08:00 Cyberpunk 2077
08:09 Cyberpunk 2077 is in a fantastic place, with CD Projekt Red having poured copious amounts
08:15 of energy into what started out as a broken, buggy, abysmal mess.
08:20 Instead of continuing to beat the very much dead horse that is this game's launch, it's
08:24 best to focus on the product we now have after all the attention put into it.
08:29 You see, Cyberpunk 2077 is a gargantuan, meaty RPG that immerses you fully into its seedy,
08:35 gritty, cybernetic underworld.
08:37 Night City is home to some dark and macabre happenings, especially when it comes to gangs,
08:41 surveillance, augmentations, and omnipresent dominating corporations.
08:45 While the neon-drenched city might make you think it's all just fun and games, it's
08:49 clear you have your work cut out for you.
08:51 Being able to create and shape your very own near-future cybernetic protagonist who takes
08:56 on the streets of Night City is what helps sell this experience, since after all, it's
09:01 up to you and your pals you meet in this game to make life better for everyone.
09:05 Between great combat, in-depth RPG elements, a unique cityscape, and excellent DLC, Cyberpunk
09:11 2077 is a real treat on the go.
09:21 Elden Ring
09:30 What a special time we live in where you can take one of the very best open-world dark
09:34 fantasy RPGs with you on the go.
09:36 Yep, Elden Ring on Steam Deck is truly a dream come true.
09:40 Some software managed to strike the perfect balance with this game, namely offering a
09:43 deeply challenging experience with extensive in-depth combat and just enough accessibility
09:49 that even newcomers to Souls-like type games can find enjoyment while still progressing
09:53 through the world of The Lands Between.
09:56 Should you happen across a boss or area of the game that poses too much challenge, simply
10:00 turn and look elsewhere, with your sights set on a new horizon.
10:04 It's guaranteed that there will be something different to engage with should you venture
10:07 off the path you were on.
10:09 Unlike many other Souls-like games, Elden Ring is great on the go since it allows for
10:13 quick gameplay sessions as well as lengthy ones.
10:16 Plus, with 2024's Shadow of the Aretri DLC, there's even more reason to soak up some
10:20 time in Elden Ring.
10:30 Vampire Survivors
10:38 Often times, the simple things in life are some of the best things.
10:42 This point is often evident in video games, and this is none truer than that with the
10:46 uber affordable and endlessly engaging game Vampire Survivors.
10:50 This game has managed to stay in the limelight thanks to consistent updates from developer
10:54 Ponkel, an easy to pick up and play nature, rewarding gameplay, plenty of rewards, and
10:59 even some good old fashioned multiplayer.
11:01 On the surface, this top-down action, bullet hell-esque game looks rather rudimentary.
11:06 Move around a play area, take out groups of baddies, level up, get stronger, rinse and
11:10 repeat.
11:11 Again, simplicity is key here since Vampire Survivors nails this gameplay loop, one that
11:16 keeps you coming back run after run.
11:18 Its bespoke set of mechanics ensures that anyone can hop into the experience without
11:22 too much trouble.
11:23 But, lasting for more than a few minutes will take lots of practice as you slay your way
11:27 through hordes of supernatural denizens.
11:29 This might just be the perfect game on the go.
11:38 Baldur's Gate 3 Ah yes, Baldur's Gate 3.
11:50 The deeply rich and rewarding Dungeons and Dragons RPG that everyone seems to have played
11:55 and loved.
11:56 Yeah, even your dog.
11:58 Or Larian Studios might just know a thing or two about crafting in-depth RPGs, given
12:03 that they have been making these types of games for well over 25 years.
12:07 Baldur's Gate 3 is the true culmination of their work, showcasing a development team
12:11 working at their peak and prime.
12:13 Now if for some reason you've enjoyed living under a rock, BG3 is a fantasy RPG that allows
12:18 players to craft and shape any sort of adventure that they want to have.
12:22 Seriously, if you can think of a way to progress in this game, it's incredibly likely that
12:26 the game gives you the tools to do just that.
12:28 It's an extensive and meaty narrative experience, with characters that will almost feel like
12:33 family after dozens if not hundreds of hours with them.
12:36 It's a game that lets you approach its strategic battles in any number of ways.
12:41 And it's just a game that lets you live out a true fantasy adventure, one that packs
12:44 in all manner of dice rolls, chances, luck, skill, and odd encounters to ensure it never
12:50 gets stale.
12:58 So do you agree with our picks for this list?
13:01 With so many top-notch games to enjoy on Steam Deck, there are likely to be many we missed
13:05 out on.
