00:02 - So we have this story that we did on the website
00:05 this week about Scarlett Johansson.
00:07 OpenAI created a new voice called Sky.
00:12 And basically the voice that they used
00:14 sounded so much like Scarlett.
00:17 So she lawyered up, she was not happy about this.
00:19 And then they ended up not using,
00:22 they stopped using the product.
00:24 You know, hearing the story,
00:25 do you have empathy for Scarlett?
00:27 - Yes, but I think because of the fact,
00:29 I mean, that's happening to all kinds of voice actors
00:32 all the time.
00:33 If you know, those of us that did those,
00:35 you know, famous recordings 20 years ago,
00:37 my voice shows up in all kinds of places.
00:39 And I tell people, listen, I'll tell my friends,
00:41 listen out for it.
00:42 If you hear my voice somewhere, let me know.
00:45 And maybe my agent can get me paid for it.
00:47 It had a different kind of effect
00:49 on a person like Scarlett Johansson
00:51 because she's a famous person.
00:52 She's a very successful and talented actress.
00:55 And so for her voice just to be out there,
00:59 particularly after they had asked
01:01 if she would like to be the voice of their system,
01:04 and she said she declined.
01:06 And then they found a voice that sounded just like it.
01:08 Anyway, I don't blame her at all.
01:10 As AI gets involved in all of this stuff,
01:13 it's gonna be very, very complicated.
01:15 Somehow they're going to have to regulate this
01:17 because it could be the end of the voiceover business
01:20 for people.
01:21 I mean, there are gonna be a lot of voice actors
01:22 who lose work because of this, you know?
01:24 And just the everyday working voiceover person
01:27 doesn't have the clout that Scarlett Johansson
01:30 is gonna have.
01:31 And they're not gonna have as quick, you know,
01:36 a resolution to their problem.
01:37 - Do you have a message for Scarlett?
01:39 - Well, no, just thank you.
01:41 You know, other than that, yeah.
01:43 And I really think she did the right thing
01:44 and I'm glad that she did it.
