00:00 "Okay we just take everything that's embarrassing and we move it out of here so it doesn't look
00:03 like you live in Neverland Ranch."
00:05 Welcome to WatchMojo and today we'll be looking at nice guys from various movies who ended
00:12 up getting the girl at the end.
00:14 Since we're nice we'll give a mild spoiler alert.
00:18 "Hey."
00:19 "Hey what's going on up there?
00:21 We're getting complaints about a woman crying hysterically?"
00:25 Number 10, Stanley Ipkiss, The Mask.
00:28 "Stanley you are the nicest guy.
00:31 Really you are."
00:32 "Yeah."
00:33 "Charlie isn't Stanley the nicest guy?"
00:35 "The best."
00:36 Jim Carrey made himself a star by playing Stanley Ipkiss, a socially awkward but sweet
00:42 man who works at a bank.
00:44 Stanley is often ridiculed for his insecurity and he doesn't have many friends as a result.
00:49 He quickly falls for the gorgeous Tina Carlisle who visits the bank to scope it out for her
00:55 gangster boyfriend Dorian Tyrell.
00:57 "So what kind of account do you have in mind?"
01:02 Stanley eventually wins over Tina securing her love with the type of kindness and affection
01:07 that she never received from Dorian.
01:09 In the end, Stanley and Tina become romantically involved with the otherwise meek Stanley attaining
01:15 a good degree of self confidence through his time with The Mask.
01:19 "Sponky!"
01:22 Number 9, Paulie Bleeker, Juno.
01:24 "Who is the father, Juno?"
01:27 "Um, it's Paulie Bleeker."
01:31 This movie came out shortly after Superbad and helped establish Michael Cera's shtick
01:36 as the timid and softly voiced funny man.
01:39 Like many of Cera's characters, Paulie Bleeker is shy, quiet and mild mannered.
01:45 He often absorbs Juno's frustration with resigned acceptance and he remains loyal to
01:51 her even in the face of her indifference.
01:53 "You have no reason to be mad at me.
01:57 I mean, you broke my heart.
01:58 I should be royally ticked off at you.
02:00 I should be really cheesed off.
02:01 I shouldn't want to talk to you anymore."
02:03 Juno isn't sure that she loves Paulie, but Paulie loves Juno with all his heart.
02:08 He is there for her even when she's playing the tough girl and pretending not to need
02:13 his comfort.
02:14 Luckily, Juno eventually learns to open her heart to Paulie and she admits that she loves
02:19 him.
02:20 The love obviously reciprocates and the two enter into a stable relationship.
02:25 "You're like the coolest person I've ever met and you don't even have to try."
02:31 "I try really hard actually."
02:35 Number 8.
02:36 George McFly – Back to the Future
02:47 This is as much George's movie as it is Marty's.
02:50 After traveling back to 1955, Marty makes the not so surprising realization that his
02:55 father is an outsider.
02:57 He doesn't have any friends, he gets mistreated, and he acts much like a stereotypical 50s
03:03 nerd.
03:04 "Okay, but I don't know what to say."
03:05 "Don't you say anything, George.
03:06 Say whatever's natural.
03:07 The first thing that comes into your mind."
03:08 "Nothing's coming to my mind.
03:09 Jesus, George, it's a wonder I was even born."
03:15 He pines for the cute and sociable Lorraine Baines who at first seems way out of his league.
03:20 But with the help of his own cool son, George becomes more confident and actually begins
03:26 standing up for himself.
03:27 He punches Biff and acts in a protective manner at the dance, which eventually wins the heart
03:33 of his crush.
03:34 The two marry and live happier lives as a more confident and loving couple.
03:46 Number 7 – Kirk Kettner – She's Out of My League
03:54 The title of this movie says it all.
03:56 Kirk Kettner is played by Jay Baruchel, who has been typecast as the adorable but awkward
04:02 man.
04:03 He's very nice and very cute, but his mumbly voice and obvious insecurities don't exactly
04:09 scream confidence.
04:10 "Thank you for pissing off your boss for me."
04:14 "Oh yeah, please, anytime.
04:17 Well, Molly, boarding pass."
04:21 He's attracted to the beautiful and personable Molly McLeish.
04:24 Within the movie itself, Kirk is labeled a 5 and Molly a 10 and no one genuinely believes
04:31 that they will get together.
04:33 And they actually do break up at one point.
04:35 Kirk thinks there needs to be something wrong with Molly and Molly admits that she finds
04:39 Kirk safe.
04:41 But in the end, Molly accepts Kirk for who he is and the nice guy gets the hot girl.
04:53 Number 6 – Peter Parker – Spider-Man 2
05:05 This superhero film was quite revolutionary for its time as it took its story and character
05:11 seriously.
05:12 Brilliant character writing was mixed in with the fun superhero action and it actually looked
05:17 at the consequences of being a famous crime fighter.
05:20 Peter is estranged from Mary Jane for much of the movie, mostly due to the stress and
05:24 necessities of being Spider-Man.
05:25 "But my best friend, who cares so much about me, can't make an 8 o'clock curtain."
05:32 He's never present and when he is, his mind is elsewhere.
05:36 The ending again subverts expectations and Peter's identity as Spider-Man is revealed
05:41 to Mary Jane.
05:43 She finally understands his behavior and this understanding allows her to break free from
05:48 John Jameson and run quite literally into Peter's arms.
05:52 She knows that Peter will always be Spider-Man but she accepts it.
05:58 Number 5 – Peter Bretter – Forgetting Sarah Marshall
06:11 As the title suggests, this movie is about getting over a breakup.
06:16 That and finding a new love.
06:18 Peter Bretter is a likable but childish television composer who is dumped by his girlfriend,
06:23 Sarah Marshall.
06:24 He takes a trip to Hawaii in an attempt to get over the breakup and meets a nice and
06:28 attractive hotel receptionist named Rachel Jansen.
06:31 "Here you go sir, have some Pog Juice, welcome to Turtle Bay, what can I do for you?"
06:35 There's just one problem.
06:37 Sarah and her new boyfriend are staying at the same resort.
06:41 Luckily, time, fun Hawaiian experiences and Rachel all combine to help Peter find mental
06:47 clarity.
06:48 He gets over Sarah, cleans himself up, becomes more ambitious and yes, he even gets Rachel.
07:04 Number 4 – Neville Longbottom – Harry Potter Franchise
07:08 We like to pretend we'd be Harry or Hermione but we'd probably be Neville.
07:13 "I've read about those, when the smoke turns red it means you've forgotten something."
07:18 "The only problem is, I can't remember what I've forgotten."
07:22 He's not especially smart, not especially talented and not especially popular.
07:28 Even though he's grown up in the wizarding world, he's even less inclined towards magic
07:32 than Harry.
07:33 But he's nice, he's friendly and he discovers a certain sort of heroism throughout the film.
07:38 "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more
07:44 to stand up to your friends.
07:47 I award 10 points to Neville Longbottom."
07:52 He's the one who stands up to Voldemort in the courtyard and he's the one who kills
07:57 Nagini with the Sword of Gryffindor.
07:59 And while it's not made explicitly clear in the films, Neville also gets the girl.
08:04 He eventually becomes her biology professor at Hogwarts and marries a fellow Dumbledore's
08:09 army member named Hannah Abbott.
08:12 How adorable is that?
08:14 "They didn't die in vain, but you will."
08:22 Number 3.
08:23 Walter Keyes McKee – Free Guy "I've lived here in Free City my whole
08:27 life.
08:28 I've got a best friend, I've got a goldfish and I work at the bank."
08:33 Ryan Reynolds does it again with Free Guy, a fun comedy with a brilliant premise.
08:38 He plays Blue Shirt Guy, a random NPC inside a video game.
08:42 Guy develops a romantic interest in Millie Rusk who plays the game's Molotov girl.
08:47 She is looking for source codes which is stolen and hidden by the game's creator Antoine
08:52 Hovacek.
08:53 "What have you got?"
08:54 "Proof of a secret level.
08:55 That's what you're looking for, right?"
08:56 "You got a video or a screen grab?"
08:58 "Nope, but I know who does."
08:59 The source codes are for a game that she and a friend named Keyes had developed together.
09:05 They eventually find the codes and launch the game called Free Life.
09:08 But in the end, Guy reveals that his romantic interest in Millie was actually pre-programmed
09:13 by Keyes.
09:15 Realizing that he made Blue Shirt Guy as a love letter to her, Millie embraces and kisses
09:20 Keyes.
09:21 "But guess what?
09:22 Someone wrote that program.
09:26 I'm just a love letter to you.
09:30 Somewhere out there is the author."
09:33 Number 2, Samwise Gamgee, The Lord of the Rings Franchise
09:40 Samwise begins life as any other hobbit.
09:43 All he wants is to live in peace in Hobbiton, tend to his gardens, and go to the pub to
09:48 drink and shyly admire the bartender, Rosie Cotton.
09:51 The only problem is that Sam is way too shy to make a move.
09:55 Well, that all changes after the War of the Ring.
09:58 "If ever I was to marry someone, it would have been her.
10:06 It would have been her."
10:07 Sam safely returns home and realizes that approaching Rosie is nothing compared to facing
10:12 down Gollum, ringwraiths, giant spiders, and the forces of Mordor.
10:17 After taking a drink to ease his nerves, he approaches Rosie and finally makes his move.
10:22 We don't see the interaction itself, but the two eventually marry and have children,
10:27 so whatever Sam said clearly worked.
10:29 "Your part in the story will go on."
10:35 "Well, I'm back."

10:54 Number 1.
10:55 Andy Stitzer - The 40-Year-Old Virgin
10:57 "Hold up, hold up, hold up.
10:59 Yo, answer this question.
11:01 Are you a virgin?
11:05 Are you a virgin?"
11:06 While Andy Stitzer is 40 years old, The 40-Year-Old Virgin serves as the perfect coming-of-age
11:11 comedy.
11:12 Andy is portrayed as a man-child.
11:14 He spends his nights alone in his apartment reading comics, painting figurines, playing
11:18 video games, and doing karaoke by himself.
11:21 His co-workers discover that he is still a virgin, so they embark on a mission to get
11:26 him some.
11:27 "Come out with us this weekend.
11:29 No pressure.
11:30 We'll just have a good time."
11:31 "Okay, yeah, I will.
11:32 I'll give it a shot."
11:34 But the movie has a wonderful heart and it places love and companionship over quick physical
11:39 satisfaction.
11:40 Andy falls for single mother Trish and she teaches him how to embrace adulthood.
11:45 Andy eventually has sex, but the moment isn't really played as a victory.
11:51 The victory is in his finding of love and maturity.
11:54 The nice guy wins in every way.
11:56 "I was scared, okay?
11:58 I just, because I didn't know what I was doing.
12:02 I just didn't think it would be good."
12:03 "Of course it'll be good.
12:05 We love each other."
12:07 Which of these stories do you find the most uplifting?
12:10 Let us know in the comments down below.
12:12 "Well, Marty, I want to thank you for all your good advice.
